Problem with backup|restore

I have a Seagate 120GB drive in my HDVR2 running 6.2 sw.
I am trying to clone it to a 300GB WD drive.

I have a set of MFSTOOLS that I am using to do the copy.

When I type:

mfstools backup -o - -a -s /dev/hda | mfstools restore -i - -x -s 256 /dev/hdb

I get the error:
restore failed
target drive is not big enough to hold image (something like that)

I double checked my drive mappings, and they are correct.

What am I doing wrong?

You can only expand once, from the orignal drive.

Can you elaborate? I am kind of a newbie at this.

Do you mean I would have had to expand my swap space during my first upgrade?
If I just marry my 300G drive to my existing 120GB, will the entire 300G be usable?
Or do I have to start from scratch?
I do still have the orignal drive stored away.
But I have 100 hrs worth of programming on my current 120GB drive that I want to retain.
