Program to convert AVI (etc.) to MPEG2 for TIVO to Go

Can anyone give me some recommendations or point me to another thread to help me convert AVIs (divx or others) and/or other formats to the MPEG2 that the TIVO needs?

What is the best and easiest program to do this with? I've tried several including ImToo, AVItoMPEG, etc. but not getting much luck with the TIVO actually displaying it correctly.

I see the list of Sonic MyDVD, Adobe Premiere, or Nero to use, but am I being dense on actually getting these programs to give me what I need? I can start Premiere, but I can't see a easy path to take to get where I need.

If someone has experience doing this, I'd appreciate a little nudge in the right direction.

Thanks for any help.

I use gui4ffmpeg - http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=gui4ffmpeg. Open your file, select DVD in the target list box, choose ntsc in the format field, choose mp2 for the audio, select the output file with Save File, press Generate, then press encode. Note: The higher the bitrate, the better the quality, but the longer it will take to generate the file. Hope that helps!
