Hello all! I know this is a really stupid question, but here goes. Dad recently purchased a 40 hour Series 2 Tivo from the Tivo website. Early Christmas gift for mom. It was my responsibility to take care of the rebate. Easy enough, right? Well, dad hooked Tivo up and IMMEDIATELY got rid of the box, the box went directly out to the Recycling truck in a matter of five minutes. I have no UPC code for the rebate! What does one do? I emailed Tivo, and this was my response:

Thank you for your rebate inquiry. If you can not provide the UPC
we can accept any barcode from the product instead.

I believe the only UPC anywhere else are stickers directly on the back of the unit. Am I correct? Am I out of luck? HELP!
From what I understand with all the constant rebates TiVo does they are pretty strict about the barcode thing. I think she means any of the other bar codes, on the box.
As good measure, next time keep the box of equipment like that regardless; it helps if the item needs to be returned or transported. I just got a local store to give me a brand new $250 DVD recorder in exchange for the one I bought nine months ago that just died because I had all the original packing material/etc. and they could just exchange it with the manufacturer. SO much easier than shipping the darn thing...and I have a brand new DVD player.

Since the unit was purchased directly from TiVo, I would hope there is some way to track down the UPC info or honor the rebate in some way. Otherwise, I'd utilize the liberal 30 day cancellation and return policy. And then try again.
