I didn't think 6.2 supported HMO/MRV. Is that "mod" now available? I'll go check the other forum.

Yup, it does. Google for "Superpatch-67all ".

Actually, I saw that post but I've yet to install an emule client (I use bit torrent). Thanks!

Hmm, I am still in process of slice upgrading my primary to 4.01b, but the news of 6.2 MRV has given me pause. If I go to 6.2 instead I'll have everything in 4.01b (after I "fix" 6.2) AND increased performance? Interesting; looks like I have more threads to read over there.

Not quite everything. From what I've been reading, TWP is only about 90% functional. There may be other hacks which don't work. I'm also unsure about USB 2.0 drivers, although I believe they should work.

I have read that USB 2.0 drivers work, but I haven't even put them on my 4.0 machines.

Many of the add ons still need work. TWP is only partially working (even though it sounds like it is almost there), and no one knows how we can get sendkeys functionality (as far as I know).

mfs_ftp works for extraction, but not insertion last I checked, so that might be a big deal. Until that is working I will only update one of my units (with MRV I can always transfer the shows after inserting them).

Here are some problems with 4.01b:
  1. Closed captioning is messed up (3.1.1 had this problem and it wasn't fixed until 3.1.1c, which was considerably newer than 4.01b)
  2. Digital audio output doesn't work well. Dropouts and worse. I started a thread on the other forum and got a fair amount of interest, but it was never solved.
  3. Some people need 72.5 locals

4.01b works well enough, but I am willing to temporarily give up some hacks to get some more polish.

Looks like it may be time to start a 6.2 hacking thread...

Agreed. How about something catchy like "moving to 6.2"

I agree it might be good to break this thread up for the 6.2 questions. I haven't been back to this thread for months, but now that there's the 6.2 I thought I'd see what's new. ...wow. There's a lot to read and so little that has to do with the 6.2

I have SD samsung dtivo2 and I gave up on getting the tivo to work with Vonage, but now that I need to make a call to get the 6.2 I'm back at it. That's a little off subject, but what I am curious about is if there's been any answer to the 72.5 satellite issue for guys like myself. All I've really wanted was folders and I was going to do the 4.0 fix until I read that I wouldn't get locals through the 72.5. Now, however I'm interested in the HMO so I can use iSee iTunes

It doesn't look like officially 6.2 gives you HMO, but there's a little talk about the Superpatch-67all, if I do this after the official 6.2 upgrade can I still get the 72.5 signals and HMO?

Thanks!
Nathaniel

Yes, 6.2 will give you locals from the 72.5 sat, and you can hack it to enable HMO.

I have started a thread for 6.2 and HMO questions and comments so this thread can remain on topic for the 4.0 upgrade.

Green screen on 4.0.1b.

I have had mt 4.0.1b up and running for about 3 months now with no problems. I deceided to see if my Samsung got the 6.2 upgrade, so I plugged in my original drive and let it boot up. Dialed in with no upgrade yet. SO I reconnect my 200gig 4.0.1b drive and it starts to boot up. When it starts to re-aquire satellite info I get this green screen saying "A severe error has occurred." and wait 3 hours. What the hell did I do? Is it going to recover or am I'm sleeping in the dog house tonight?

Help???

Edit: Well it seems after an hour it saeems to be working OK. Damn that scared the crap out of me.

dwl-122 vs. dwl-g122

I am using the MA111 and it works well but it has to be v1. In fact the ones I got had a 'Tivo Compatible' sticker on the front of the box.

I am running 4.01b on my series 2 directivo. I tried using the dwl-g122 and it doesn't work. So, you're saying I should use the dwl-122 and it should work?

I hate to point out the obvious, but this thread is all you need to upgrade to 4.0. I know it's a little long, but by the time you finish reading the thread you'll just about be ready to do the upgrade.

Why would you even WANT 4.x anymore, now that 6.2 is out, and all the hacks are pretty much up to speed? You also get 72.5 sat support, and much faster menus and configuration of recordings.

It is also MUCH easier to get 6.2 hacked than it is to get 4.x running on a DTiVo. See this thread
