Apologies if this a FAQ -- searched through the forums but couldn't find an answer.
The Rewards FAQ states that "In order to receive credit for a referral, the person you referred must maintain active TiVo service for at least 30 days, among other restrictions".
Credit for my first referral seems to have appeared before 30 days of activation -- what happens (in the unlikely event) if my friend cancels his subscription before 30 days. Will my points be withdrawn? Especially, what happens if I have redeemed my points before the 30 days end.
Ideally, shouldn't the points appear in my account after 30 days of activation? Thanks in advance.

Tivo does offer a 30 day money back guarantee on both hardware and service.
So let's say my buddy buys a Tivo from Tivo and activates service giving me the referral and I get the points. After several weeks and on the last possible day he decides that he doesn't like it (I know very unlikely but just for the sake of arguement) and cancels his service and returns the box to Tivo for his full refund on the box and the service.
The box was not paid for (and is now no longer "new") and the service was given for free. Why would Tivo be obligated to leave the points in my account?
I could get 5 people to buy tivo and cancel service for a refund after I get the referral points. I'd have 25000 points and could get 140hr Tivo for free and in return Tivo gets nothing. I don't think that would happen for even one referral.
