Media Access Key - A sign TiVoToGo is about to be released?

This is very interesting. Saw this over at TiVoBlog.

Here is the link.......................

A Sign That TiVoToGo Is About To Be Released?
Filed under: News— tivogeek @ 1:55 pm
I just got off the phone with a TiVo rep who may have provided me with some good news about TiVoToGo! I called because I wanted to know the status of my rewards points TiVo. While I was on the phone with the rep, I asked the question that everybody is wondering about, “When is TiVoToGo going to be released?” The rep told me it would be pretty soon because TiVo was in the process of adding a “Media Access Key” to everybody’s account. Apparently this key is will be used with the software I’ll download in order to provide me with access to my recordings. I logged into my account and sure enough there is a new link to retrieve my Media Access Key! Hopefully this means that TiVoToGo is coming soon!

Click here, takes you to the Media Access Key screen at TiVo

Looks good!

I don't know when this text was added to "Allow Transfers"

Use this setting to allow or prevent a DVR from transferring content over your home network - to or from other DVRs (Multi-Room Viewing), or to a computer (TiVoToGo). You can turn this setting off or on at any time without charge.

http://www.tivo.com/togo is not active yet...

What a tease... any idea why PVRBlog thinks this means it's still 1-2 weeks away? With this up on the live site, I'd think we're looking at a matter of a day or two...

I have one in my account as well. Doesn't quite look like your screen shot, but there is a key.

Mine looks identical to the one on tivoblog.

Pressing the www.tivo.com/togo link gets a "page not found" error.

I would guess that the TTG release is imminent, otherwise they're going to get flooded with questions about what this screen is all about.

The Media Access Key and "Allow Transfer" options were added to Manage My Account last night as part of our preparation for the TiVoToGo release. Those options will be used once TiVoToGo becomes available. We are still working to bring you TiVoToGo as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

The screen is pretty well hidden for the average (non TiVo Community Member) customer. It is found under "Manage my account" and then on the right corner as a link under "related links". I knew what I was looking for and I had a hard time finding it.

Someone refresh my memory

On the Overview page of Manage My account is says in the fifth column "Settings" it says. "Transfers ALLOWED". I thought this used to say Multiroom viewing or something like that.

Is this another change harkening TivoToGo?

Now this is exactly the information that would be be great in an official sticky thread that you guys keep up to date.
Instead of rumors, calls to CSRs, etc. I think you would find members of the forum would really appreciate if you posted this kind of information here first before we found it on some blog....

This would have been great posted by you last night:

I don't ever recall someone accusing me of being patient. Especially when it comes to technology! I want it now

There will not be a lot that I can say between now and the time the rollout begins. Be assured that you will be among the first to know when the rollout begins (and yes, there will be a "priority" list available once the rollout starts).

It's amazing how things spread all over the web . I hope this really means that TiVoToGo is about to be released! I guess we'll just have to wait and see .

Well, that's good news. Here's hoping it's soon. But I certainly won't be cursing TiVo if it's not tomorrow. Thanks Bill.

For example, you could tell us when this link works http://www.tivo.com/togo or this one https://www3.tivo.com/policies
You could post when you have finalized the software and feel strong all the kinks that are going to get worked out have been.
You could post some sort of hint like "If you have a burner, now would be a good time to buy some blank disks" or perhaps "If there are some programs on your TiVo you would like to archive to DVD you might consider starting to hold onto them" Maybe a posting of the documentation or a software package we might consider purchasing.

I am sure you can come up with all kinds of tid bits to keep us interested and excited about this release!

This is also on the DVR preferences screen:
