We don't know who you really are, but in any case, I love the show. Keep 'em comin'!

I had some good laughs with this one, so I'll keep watching. A bunch of you already mentioned my favorite line... "Gina, you're dead to us." My wife thought the hooker bit went too far, but I liked it... extremely funny!

We were also a little suspicious of Matt and whether he was "in on it", but I've decided he's probably not. "Gina" came across like a soap opera star... in other words, not very convincing, and seemed to be acting. Probably best to have her leave first.

muggum, how long did this whole thing take to film?

We didn't end up shooting the full ten days, as it turned out.

Dang, now I'm really curious as to what happens. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing tonights episode. It definitly has my attention. Good job on putting this show together. It was about time some one came up with this concept and implemented it.

I believe that Matt is the real deal and every time we "see" something that seems to tip their hand Matt just sees it as the other contestants strategy. When he was pondering Gina's "fake" reaction to what was found in her room, he just took it as her coming off insincere because she was "playing" him.

I'm keeping the SP.

But what's up with there being no guide data? I can't figure out when the new episodes are.

P.S. I'm a big Fan of Ralph Garmon from the "Kevin & Bean" radio show. Others that have made it big from that show are Adam Carola(well, kinda big), and Jimmy Kimmal. Also, Carson Daily used to work for KROQ... & and MTV DJ. chick named Kennidy. Kevin & Bean seem to be the only ones who get left behind.

P.S.S. Did I forget to mention that Chuck Roast, from the Howard Stern show used to be a DJ at Kroq(in LA)?

But Kevin & Bean know their limitations when it comes to the visual. They know they are nothing special to look at. But do you remember them, when they hosted 'Godzilla Theater' on channel 9 in 1991? I remember coming home from the club and watching bits and pieces of them. Sure their jokes were corny, but it's pretty fun to watch when you're buzzed!

Yeah I see that too, my TiVo is recording one tonight and another at midnight? Strange. No other listings until next Tuesday.

The most important thing about any show is, does the show entertain you? If so, then it's doing it's job. Who cares if joe schmoe is being duped, or maybe it's us that are being duped! As long as it keeps my interest, which it has thru the first 2 hour episode, then I will watch it till the end.

Plus I got to give my radio friend Ralph Garman all the support that I can, considering all of the laughs he has given me, since he joined the Kevin & Bean show during the Volkswagen Beetle giveaway marathon. Anybody else remember that?

I don't think any of us has ever been placed into a position of intensely getting to know a group of people (even for a period of just a few days), only to find that these people are all actors. Matt's a nice guy, and he seems to be pretty sharp. I can't begin to imagine what his reaction will be to all this.

With that said, just watched the second episode: Pure. Comic. Genius.

I agree! The "big, gay teddy bear" comment and Ashleigh's compliments at the end were hilarious!

Another great episode! I was ROFL when Dr. Pat was trying to make Matt relax and she's just making stuff up off the top of her head. Then to top it all off, Matt says what a great doctor she is! haha

Oh yeah and Muggum's prediction came true tonight so I now fully belive he is really a producer, which is so cool

Some side notes. Since the Mole producers are part of this deal, it makes sense that they could use Mole music.

Anyway, it has been mentioned, but I keep thinking of the Truman show concept for this series.

Usually summer tv is really lame, but between Joe Schmoe and Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica I have been LMAO.

I am having trouble with the times. I set TiVo to catch all the Joes, but then it was going to miss Tuesday Big Brother. (that is almost over, phew) So, I put it below that in the list. Then told it First and Repeats, as I think we are behind a bit by just catching the encore of the premiere. So, in Los Angeles, it caught the midnight showing last night. Then, live as I am sitting there watching it, it switched to an exercise infomercial on Spike. I was live, and made sure I was on the right channel. Then double checked and flipped around the dial. It just flipped shows 10 minutes into it right before my eyes. It was for sure the second episode, so I was set to be watching them in order.

Now, tonight's episode is what number? out of how many? I have plenty of shows in the 'upcoming episodes' list, but have no way of knowing which to grab, as there is no program data. With such a short show, I don't want to miss any episodes. And, how do I complain to Spike for screwing it up?

I am skipping the mention of last night's episode as I haven't watched it yet, but did anyone else find it curious that Matt didn't recognize the porn star until she showed her boobs? Then he called out her name!

drumorgan,
There currently have been 2 episodes shown. The premiere was 2 hours long and the 2nd episode was just an hour. It might be easiest to check the guide and just record 1 of each. New episodes start on Tuesdays so you should be up to date if you catch them both by then.

Think of it from my perspective as a producer. I would not risk destroying my credibility by lying to America about Matt's background and knowledge.

This is a pretty weak argument, unless you revealed your real First and last name in the other forum(I haven't read it yet). But for the most part you are just an anonymous poster at this forum with less than 10 posts. There is no reputation to worry about. You could be any of a group of about 10 producers of the show. Or you could just be a grip, and you would still know about the bondage thing. That being said, I really appreciate the fact that you came here, and are defending the shows validity. I found myself losing major interest last night, thinking that Matt might just be another actor. I LOVED the first episode, when I took everything at face value. What you've said here has sparked a renewed greater interest for me in the show. If the show is exactly what you say it is, I love the idea, and am very interested. Thank you for coming here, and posting your input.

Actually, this is when I first started listening, so I never saw much of those TV shows. It was right about the time I lost interest in Mark & Brian, and started to discover Howard Stern & Kevin & Bean. Your right, they each do have a face that was made for Radio.
P.S. I still can't tell who is who based on their voices

The porn star thing was the only thing that I ever found very suspicious. Not because of recognizing the boobs, but just that he recognized her & knew her first and Last Name. I'm a major perv, and I didn't recognize her. The only Two porn stars that I could recognize right away, and Know their first and last Name are Jenna Jameson & Jenine Lindenmuler(sp?).

This is the greatest show on TV right now! THE PERFECT person to play the role of Joe Shmo! Hope Tivo can catch every episode with the bad guide data and all.

I've debated whether I should just reveal my identity, but I think I'd still prefer not to, just for anonymity's sake.

My larger point was that I still need to sell shows once this one is finished. If America becomes outraged that we hoodwinked them over Joe's true identity, I'd find it much more difficult to sell a show the second time around.

Matt is real. He's not an actor. He hasn't been made aware of the truth to put one over on the actors. This will become abundantly clear as you continue to watch.

There's a school of thought among those of us who made the show that we should just let these internet arguments and rumors run their course, because it helps create controversy and generate interest. What I was worried about was your reaction, which was a LOSS of interest due to distrust of the producers.

I know you don't know me, but you're just going to have to trust me! =)

The whole time I was watching last night (well, after the "bondage video" part, anyway) I was wondering if you were someone we would see on the show (control room or otherwise). Well?

If I were a producer of a TV show, I think the opportunity to talk candidly with viewers as it aired would be invaluable (not to mention gratifying, after all that hard work!)

I think Joe Schmo is a nice guy, interesting to watch, and easily relatable. He really wears his heart on his sleeve, doesn't he? For that reason, I feel like the show's premise is a little cruel. But it is funny, and hopefully Joe will take it in stride (I think it goes without saying he'll deserve the prize money.)

I welcome muggum and will keep watching the show. Knowing muggum will be here reading our insight will make it even more fun to participate!

My guess is that muggum is someone who is a regular here, but wants to keep his/her anonymity so has decided to create "muggum".

Well, I'm not going around every forum on the internet to see if he has posted anywhere else. I just noticed that at the time he popped into this forum he had a total of 2 postings when I made my comment.

I hope he is legit. I'm inclined at this point to believe he may be.

Distrust would be a problem, but if it was fake, and I knew it....it would be a bigger problem. I remember watching 1/2 and episode of "7 Lives' on Playboy TV. Until I realized it was fake, I thought that it was the greatest reality show ever. I didn't feel that the Producers were trying to trick me, but I still had No interest in the show after that. It wasn't because I was mad, it was just because I wanted to watch a reality show, not a soap opera.

For now, I choose to trust you. The fact that you came to the plate with the bondage thing, definitely helped. Plus, at this point I choose to believe you because I want to watch and enjoy the show.

I mostly came to mingle with objective viewers! You get surrounded by friends and family, and you lose your perspective on how good/bad the show is... It's very gratifying to read praise/criticism from people who aren't so biased.

I'm not sure what else to do to convince people that I'm legit, without precisely revealing my identity. I did 'predict' an upcoming element of the show earlier in the thread. Wasn't that enough? =)

Hopefully, simply by answering questions, I'll be able to convince the rest of the skeptics. If anyone wants to know behind-the-scenes stuff, feel free to fire away. But I can't tell you anything about how the show ends, and I'll be careful about revealing too many plot points.

Welcome, Muggum.

One thought. If it turned out (which I believe you, it won't) that Matt was really in on it, and the 'actors' were being duped, then the last thing I would think is "Stone Stanley lied to me". I would actually be more impressed, and I think the fact that there was a REAL twist, compared to Big Brother's idea for a twist, peanut butter sandwiches, would make me talk about the show more to people. I think a major hoodwink like that would be great. Basically, I am saying that, reality shows already have a diminished sense of reality. Joe Schmoe is deliberately crossing that line to parody the genre. So, a final twist like that would be seen as a triumph, not a deception, in my eyes.

Second, I didn't realize anyone in your office knew about this place. I mentioned it to my friend there and she had never heard of here or TWoP. I think that this is an invaluable tool. You are getting free focus group research. I, for one, am glad to know that the producers are really looking for feedback and our posts might actually effect the shows themselves.

Either way, I think you guys are the best. Ever since "the gameshow you don't know you are on" I have been convinced you guys are the masters of the genre. Just enough tongue in cheek to really reinvent the wheel and not just churn out the same old drivel.
