Got c today. Had to take my DVR next door to do the download since I have Vonage and no matter what I tried I could not get but a few minutes into the download. On a normal dial-up line it took a good hour to complete the download.
Still don't really know what is supposed to be different in version c.
Got my c update on Thursday evening. I noticed that the unit was in Pending Restart status late on Thursday evening. The unit passed 2am Central without restarting itself (no shows were recording to delay it), so I did a manual restart. During the reboot I got the updating software screen (Tivo characher in a spotlight,surrounded by colored balls), and after a couple of mins the HDVR2 was running again on the newer software version.

Even if they do that, they won't want to upgrade everybody at once, so they will still do a controlled slow roll-out to test things before they fully release it.
I think they should have a pool of beta testers, mostly users on this forum. They could roll it out to us for a week or two and await feedback. If all is ok, roll it out to a second larger group of regular users for 7 to 10 days then roll it out to everyone. Then in 30 to 45 days they would have it out to everyone, providing the server can dish it out that fast.

I sent a feedback to directv about when I could expect the update and I got this response.
We are not aware of any future software upgrades for the Directv DVR with Tivo, The last upgrade was for version 3.1 0b-02-01.
To recieve the upgrades the reciever must be connected to a phone line. If the call is interuppted it will try again.
Its really sad how DIRECTV operates, the customers know more on whats going on than the employees.

I don't think I will ever get the update. for the last week or so when my tivo makes the call(or when I force it) as it goes through the steps it goes from "checking account status" right to "hanging up". no downloading of anything.

FYI, not that it matters. The "c" unit, with access card starting at 0006, has been subbed about six months longer than the "b" unit, with a/c starting at 0009. Also it was a forced call when I got "c" but from what I read at a few forums, when it's your time you will get it.
My tv show was on the whole time it was downloading so I really did not realize that I was getting it until I noticed the amber light was on for a long time.
Just checked mine, still have B. Started to force a call but noticed that my last call (and all previous ones) happen between 7 & 8 am, but it said my call today was scheduled for 11:22 am. Decided to wait to see if the update is coming today.
I have C on the HDVR2 in my bedroom. The two in my family room are still at B. One in my family room was purchased and subbed for about six months prior to the one in my bedroom. I don't watch that much TV in my bedroom, so I can't provide any feedback yet.
