That was it for the anime. For more, read the manga or await the SciFi channel production.

Overall, I liked it, although I thought the ending was a bit weak. However, whereas a number of the Toon Zone posters didn't like the ending because they felt that too much came out of nowhere, my issue with it was that I found it to be too predictable.

Overall I really liked it. It really started to heat up by the middle of the series. I was kind of lost in the beginning but they did a good job of tying things together by the end. I thought there could have been more "action" and also I thought they could have explained the significance of some of the symbols (and also the magic) but other than that I loved it. What is the Sci-Fi channel doing with the series? More 'toon?

There are supposedly pages and pages of liner notes about the runes in the DVD set.

As for the other question, from a long-time entry on their FAQ:
Quote:
Why does SCI FI no longer run anime/cartoons?
We used to air anime movies in various time periods, the most notable and consistent one being Saturday mornings. While there is tremendous support from fans for anime (we get lots of e-mails requesting its return), it never generated strong enough ratings to earn a permanent spot on the schedule. We feel that anime belongs on SCI FI and would love to bring it back if we can make it work both creatively and financially. However, it is not part of SCI FI's current programming plans.
So, they have rights to WHR, but the focus has been on doing a live action version rather than anime.

Dang! Well I hope the live action is as good as the 'toon.

Gundam Seed is now available in the schedule to setting up Season Passes. Since the DVDs aren't going to be out until later this year (in this region) this will be my first chance to see this latest take on the Gundam mythos...

Thanks for the heads up. I hope this doesn't disappoint me as much as Gundam Wing did. The original 1979 Gundam is still my favorite along with 0080, War in the Pocket. Ah, nostalgia.

The good news is that people are saying it's the best Gundam in a long time. I guess we'll see.

Has anyone heard any word about Cyborg 009? It played (is playing) on Cartoon network (right?) but the new episodes stopped a while ago. It was just getting good too. Does anyone know if they will be offering new episodes?

Grace Anderson's blog above might have info on Cyborg&160;009. She was one of the two translators for the first batch and wrote about the series in her blog at that time. I haven't checked for any new entries on the series.

I think I see a new episode of Inuyasha on Toon. It is 4/24 (which is strange since it is a Saturday). The episode is called "father's old enemy; ryukotsusei"

Thanks for the reminder. I've updated my lists of current anime series and upcoming movies.

For those interested in Asian programming outside of anime, in the other forum in my sig, I also updated my list of upcoming Japanese movies, noted that Joy Luck Club will be showing again, and posted a bunch of stuff about the new drama 私の青空 (Watashino Aozora/My Blue Sky) starting in Southern California next week. Also, three Korean dramas are starting in Southern California this week.

Wolf's Rain starts on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on 4/24. The only problem right now is that TiVo thinks it's a special so you can't setup a Season Pass for it yet. Hopefully when the 5/1 data gets to the unit it will 'realize' that it's a series. You can find some quick info about the show here:

No, I was wondering if this were the long-discussed possible network headed by the International Channel, KSCI, KTSF, and KIKU; but ImaginAsian appears to be a wholly separate Asian network forming. Thanks for the info!

This is Macross Plus in OAV version (there's also a somewhat different movie version). It's generally considered the best of the Macross franchise, and at one point it was ranked in IMDb's top films of all time (admittedly this was early in IMDb's history).

Does anyone know if Cyborg 009 is on DVD yet? Is it worth buying? Is it worth renting?

I enjoyed Cybord 009 especially the funky opening and closing music. I wouldn't buy it though. I did not think it was that great. It is not my type (for purchase) of 'toon. Seems as if Amazon has the "uncut and unedited versions" Perhaps they are better uncut?

Must be system dependent. Still isn't showing up on my DirecTivo as Seson Passable.

Now if Tech TV would only show the next batch of Last Exile's. Yeah, I know its not supposed to be until next year.
