Good Guys Release Date California

Good Guys in Northern California is getting them in their warehouse APRIL 10TH, in stores by APRIL 11th or 12th according to three managers at three different Good Guys stores I called today.

If I remember right, Good Guys got in the original DirecTIVOS sooner than everyone else too.

One store is expecting a shipment of 1,000 and only has 750 preorders so far too.

I hope to be swimming in Tivo HD by April 11th.

Note: The WHOLE CHAIN ordered 1,000 inital units and they had 400+ presold throughout the system as of last week, so I guess they now have 750 pre ordered. WOW!!

Good luck finding one on the shelves at the rate they are pre-selling them...

April 11th is a Sunday, so my guess is the 12th is more likely.

I pre-ordered an HR10-250 on 30MAR04 at a San Diego GG. The manager said there were currently over 400 pre-orders and mentioned 1000 available units. He said I would be able to pick it up on April 13th, best case scenario.

When I called them on the phone, they told me 3 seperate times that they only expect to get the units (they said 1000) on April 10'th.

However, I walked into the store and asked in person and the guy told me they are expecting 480 units to arrive withing the next 72 hours (this was yesterday).

I went into a Northern California Good Guys store today and was told "early next week"...even though their computer still says April 10th.

According to the good guys buyer for this the first batch is "in route", however they're going to keep the April 10 date in the computer until they are in the warehouse to play it safe. No word on how many are in the first batch but the latest is that 500 have been pre-ordered. I'm #34.

I was in the low teens but cancelled my original order and put in a new order to take advantage of the 3 years no interest deal. After adding an RPTV, receiver and speakers to the order the no interest deal was very sweet!

GG preorder

I ordered mine on April 1st...they (she actually) told me it would be in April 10, so expect it a few days after that. I hope the earlier dates mentioned here are more correct. But I still have to get my dish changed first, I guess, to get the D*
HD programming. But the OTA should be sweet....I get good on a stb with a small indoor antenna that rotates, but I think I have a setting where MOST of the stations I want are good, so I can play around and enjoy, so BRING IT ON!!

When I placed my order I asked how many had been ordered, so this is how I knew.

I'm number 26 from Good Guys. I pre-orded in mid-January. I can't remember the exact date.

I thought about pre-ordering from VE, but I felt more comfortable going with a local retailer where I can exchange/return same-day if anything were to go wrong. Express shipping costs can be quite costly especially coast-to-coast.

I can only hope that GG gets a chunk of the first production run. I don't think that it's been completely verified if VE gets ALL of the first units? Does anyone know if this is fact or not?

I would love to record/watch next weekend's Masters in HD! Best golf tourney of the year IMO.

I ordered on Feb 10 from Good Guys near Seattle.

As of March 19th, I was number 129 on the preorder list.

If others have canceled, I may be better than that now.

Any way to pre-order on the web? I can't get to a store for a while. Also, any discount, or are you guys paying full retail?

I ordered on January 23rd and was told I was #4 for the state. I prepaid the whole thing then found out later that most people only made downpayment. i think almost all early preorders got $100 off but now everyone is paying full price.
It's still totally up in the air whether the April 10th date will still be on time since Value Electronics had their initial order delayed a week.

I doubt it. The goodguys.com website is not run by the same company as the B&M store.

gg requires half down for this unit. I'm guessing that most most people paid $999 except when gg had sales, maybe it's me but they don't seem very interested in discounting things much anymore unless it's a sale.

I ordered from GG's in Sacramento on 1/26. I got the $100 off for the preorder. I just called them and was told they'd arrive at the warehouse in Alameda on 4/10 and mine would be in Sacramento on 4/11. He told me I was no. 58 and that they had 500 preorders.

After I ordered I noticed the receipt said this was a special order, the normal refund/exchange policies didn't apply, the sale was final, and the 50% deposit was non-refundable. This surprised me since this is something they will normally stock, not really a special order. I think this was probably a mistake, but wasn't that concerned about it since I couldn't imagine deciding I didn't want it. Did anyone else have this message on their receipt?

I ordered mine on 1/23 also from Sacramento. My receipt also has the "All Sales Final" verbiage. I asked the sales guy about this and he indicated a few things.

In regards to the refund, he says they put that disclaimer on specials orders because they don't wont people "renting", or buying a special order item and then returning if after 30 days. I guess it's ok for stuff they stock, but not higher end special order items. I did ask him if I was able to find the unit elsewhere before I took delivery, could I get my 50% deposit back? He said YES.

He also said that from the way this item is coded in their computer, they may never keep these items in local stores. Rather they will keep them in warehouses and ship them to the stores as needed per individual sells. They already do this for many TV's he indicated.

I was told I was either 67 or 76, I forget which. I also got this unit at the $899 sale price.

I also called Good Guys today and was given the same shipping information sactoken got, that it will be shipped on the 10th and arrive in the store the 11th or 12th. Also, the salesman told me they are getting ALL 500 of the preorders. I am #66 on their list.

Regarding the All Sales Final on the receipt, my receipt indicated the same thing and at the time, I questioned the manager about receiving a DOA unit. The manager then wrote on the receipt in long hand that "If Broken, we'll replace it within 30 days". This reassured me and I would imagine that the policy would apply to all the preorders whether or not the receipt indicates that.

It won't be long now!

My Good Guys in Pasadena agreed to match the $100.00 off given to some other preorders if I could produce a last name and store of purchase. I have private messaged several people on this board but so far no luck...

But still trying...
