Circuit City DirecTV HD10-250

At 6:01 a.m this morning, the following link appeared on the C. C. Web site.

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.j...1&oid=93509&m=0

I can already hear the rustle of many wings as the early birds begin to migrate from their last nest to a new one. Grin.

Do you think they have any in stock? It doesn't matter to me because my Best Buy order should ship tomorrow.

Hey, thanks for the info! When I try to checkout, it says none are in stock. Does anyone have any info on when they'll have them in stock?

What's really annoying is on this page listing the different satellite receivers CC carries,

http://www.circuitcity.com/searchre...upDept=null&m=0

there is a green checkmark to the right signifying that the HR10-250 is available online, but after going through the ordering process, then it's not available online. :-(

I tried using the chat help on the Circuit City site...same old corporate BS...

{Nirav} Thank you for choosing circuitcity.com, how may I help you today?

{Mark} HI...I just noticed on your website the addition of a new satellite receiver, the HR10-250...I see that it's not available either online or at any of my nearby stores. Any idea when I will be able to order it online?

{Nirav} I apologize for any inconvenience that you may have faced due to the non-availability of the product. I understand your concern regarding the future availability of the Hughes DIRECTV HR10250. Please note that the model you are looking for is currently not available on our web site. Currently, we are unable to inform you the product availability.

{Nirav} I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. The stocks at individual stores may vary depending upon the customer demands in that locality. Our merchandise manager would be in a better position to confirm the future availability of the Hughes DIRECTV HR10250. Hence, I request you to call our store manager at any of your nearest Circuit City store in order to check the availability of the product.

Blah, blah, blah........

Well, at least my rep had a slightly different BS story:

Welcome to Circuit City Online Chat.
The session has been accepted.

{Nitesh} Thank you for choosing circuitcity.com, how may I help you today?
{David} Hello - I see this satellite receiver "DTV HR10250" as not available. Do you know when some will become available?
{Nitesh} Could you provide me the zip code of your area so that I may check the availability of this product at a store near you.?
{David} 33071
{Nitesh} Thanks for the information.
{Nitesh} David, could you give me a moment while I look it up for you?
{David} OF COURSE
{Nitesh} Thanks for being patient.
{Nitesh} I have verified the records and found that the , " Hughes DIRECTV® HD Receiver/Digital Video Recorder (Up to 200 hours) (Brand/Model: DTV HR10250 )"which you wish to purchase from circuitcity.com is not available for delivery or for Express In store pick up at your location because we are out of stock of your item
{Nitesh} If you still wish to purchase this product and get it shipped to you, you may choose to be notified when your item is back in stock, or try again later. I would suggest you click on the icon which says "Notify when back in stock " when you go through the check out process and we will be happy to send you an email when the product is back in stock.
{Nitesh} Unfortunately, all of the products on circuitcity.com are available on a first come first serve basis. However, as soon as the item becomes available, we will send you an email
{Nitesh} Our stock is replenished on a regular basis. We are unable to provide specific information as to when individual products will be available. However, we will be happy to send you an email at that time.
{Nitesh} I understand your concern and apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
{Nitesh} Is there anything else I may assist you with?
{David} nope - thanks

It appears that either
a) they never had any units to begin with and this is more of the same BS from retailers, or
b) they had a grand total of maybe 5 available.

My guess is 'a,' but perhaps I'm wrong.

Funny - I searched for 'hr10-250' and 'tivo' before coming here this morning, and pulled up nothing.

They really SHOULD use the word TiVo in the writeup!

Anyway, VE and Abt would both save me over $100 relative to CC, so I think I'll pass.

Said I couldn't pick it up locally, but it let me order just fine.

What was I thinking? And why didn't I put in a password so I could check my order status online?

No email confirm yet (order placed approx 8:13 MDT) but my card's been authorized.

Edit: email confirm received at 9:29 MDT

It just let me order it after I was unsuccessful earlier. So, now I have orders in at BB, VE, and CC. Let's see who ships first.

I am betting CC is going to ship first...they are claiming it is instock...that makes this an order for items that they have (not pre-order or backorder)

Just a caveat that BB claimed the same as well - and then backpeddled.

I just ordered online as well - it just became available (I've been refreshing all morning). We'll see what happens. Now, I have orders a BB, CC, Rapid, and VE. I am not too concerned with having so many preorders since I want two units, I will keep my VE one whenever it comes in because of the price break, Rapid I expect will come before the others and CC and BB I can just return to the store and they cost me nothing if none of my friends want it.

The BB.COM website never claimed they were "In-stock" it was always a pre-order with them.

CC is saying that they are AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING.

That is not the same.

Tell me about it - it is hard to find on the site, but a search for HR10250 (no hyphen) brings it up. Maybe that is how they need to find it in stores? I'll swing by on my way home and see what they say.

As of 15 minutes ago there were still 39 HR10-250's available for order....as seen on the Store managers screen....whilst looking over his shoulder. Grin

While more are coming in next week from USA production facilities....there is a big problem with production at the Mexico plant and it apparently is not solved yet.

Meaning that they have them in hand? (At the warehouse, where ever that may be)

Has anyone else other than the early morning folks gotten an order number or confirmation e-mail yet? I ordered around 10:15a.

BTW, I also feel like an idiot with 3 pre-orders (VE, BB and now CC).

FWIW, I still have the order conf. page up and it says they will send a confirmation email within two business days. I always leave an order confirmation screen up until I get the email just in case I need to call them about something. Never has it taken more than a half hour to get the email.

I called the CSR# (obviously in India BTW) and did get them to look up my order and give me a reference number just in case I needed it before the e-mail came through.
