Crappy Pegasus

I had DTV many years ago as I was one of the early adopters. Matter of fact I paid more for the first single LNB dish and single receiver (around $700) than I paid for my new 2 standard receiver, 1 DTV Tivo receiver and triple LNB ($250). I left DTV for a while and switched to the "other" mini DBS company because of the channel offerings (even though I liked DTV better). Just switched back to DTV and LOVING IT. I've got channels now that I didn't have on the other dish.

Long way to get to my point eh?? I had Pegasus from the very first time I signed up for Direct. Been away from it for several, several years. Came back 2-3 weeks ago. Low and behold Pegasus still was the provider.

I typically pay most of my bills online at the various places websites, i.e. electric company, gas company, cell & phone company, etc. I don't believe there was a place on the sight to pay my bill online if I wanted to. DTV has that option available. I can't wait for the switch over!!

First person that gets the paperwork needs to tell us what it's all about!

I signed up with Pegasus back in March...What happens to my 1-year commitment? If I switch to direct TV will I be in violation of this and will I have to pay a penalty fee?

Probably not. The way things are looking, they won't exist by the time your commitment is up anyway. I'm also sure if you talk to DirecTV, they'd help you out in this case.

I have had Pegasus since 1995 (being a VERY early adopter). I will be extremely happy to be rid of them, especially as it relates to my experiences trying to get TiVo service activated and/or problems solved (calling Pegasus, them having no clue and telling me to call DirecTv; calling DirecTv, only to be told to call Pegasus, etc.). Can't wait for that paperwork!!!

As it happens, the day before I read about this here, I was starting to consider switching back to cable. I had even written to the cable company (Cablevision) asking about their plans for DVR capability, since if they were planning anything close to what I have with my DirecTivo's, I was willing to switch and perhaps sacrifice some functionality just to be rid of Pegasus). Now I don't have to. Hooray!!!

They are sending me the forms in the mail to switch.

What great news. Death to Pegasus and Locals next week.

All I can say is Die Pegasus Die!

Man, I love the tagline:

"Get your stinking hoof off me, you damned dirty Pegasus!"

It makes me laugh every time that I read it!

I just called the DirecTV 866#, and instead of saying that they would mail me something in five days, they said that someone would contact me withing five days??

Does anyone suggest that I callback to make sure that I get that mailer?

Brigadeer

I'd call back just to be safe. Pegasus is going to put up a fight. If we can get over before a court injunction or anything else to stop us, I'd say act now.

We'll see what transpires of the iminent demise of Pegasux.

From what I read of the release, that NRTC members can still sell DirecTV service, but non exclusively, meaning those in NRTC served areas have the choice of either subscribing through their NTRC provider (be it Peagasux, if they stick around, or other NRTC members), or subbing directly to DirecTV.

Yeah, we should get out while the getting's good. Pegasus might seek a restraining order to maintain the exclusivity agreement, which could delay account transfers for those who hadn't already switched to DirecTV.

I wonder if we Pegasus customers qualify as new customers according to DirecTV. There would be some special pricing in that case. It couldn't hurt to ask, anyway.

If you goto the bottom of their main page www.pegsattv.com , there is a "online billing" icon.

Thanks - I didn't see that, and was going from memory. None the less I hope that my area switches to DTV billing.

I saw a notice about it tonight on channel 205.

Is DirecTV sending these forms out to all Pegasus subscribers, or do you have to call to receive one?

I called the 866# in this thread. Don't waste time though, if Pegasus puts an injunction on this, we could be stuck with them longer. Let's try to get in during this window of opportunity.

Never mind...I just called DirecTV to make sure I got a form and they said they are sending them to all Pegasus customers.
Kind of ironic this is happening around D-Day...I feel like it's the liberation of France all over again.

I never quite thought about that, but yes.... this is liberation. Does that make us the cheese eating surrender monkeys?

Damn you tfederov!

I saw this thread title DAYS ago but didn't remember you were a Pegasus customer. Couldn't you have named the thread "Pegasus is DEAD!!!" ?

Off to find that 866 number before the judicial system kicks in...

Oh, and

WOO HOO!!!

A couple of quick questions.............As a pegasux slave myself the locals for my area are offered, but the next town is D* area and they have no locals, does anyone know how this will play out??

Would someone be better off by canceling P* and then signing up with D* as a "new" customer?? Have been with P* for almost 2 years, and even if D* counts the years with P* toward your valued customer status, is 2 years enough time to keep or go for some new free equipment as "new" subscriber??

If you get locals with Pegasus now you should be in an area where you can still get them from DirecTV (unless you lied about your address when you signed up so you could get them).

I don't worry about losing valued customer status (only been on DTV for a year anyway) or new equipment, I just want to get rid of Pegasus (die, die, die).

Call the 866 number already posted and get DirecTV to send you the information packet and agreement to sign, that's what I just did.

Not and still keep drawing a paycheck from MSU, I couldn't.

If I have to choose between believing DirecTV and believing Pegasus, I'll go with DirecTV. I called the 866 number, got my info packet and form to sign on the way.

Just called DTV to get my packet. The agent says that once they get all the info back (the release form and the copy of my PTV bill) an installer will contact me to come out and install the DTV.

What gives, I'm installed already!! 3 directivos, the only thing I can figure is that I'll need new cards. What else could it involve.

btw, the agent gave me the number 888-355-7530 to call for more info. But they didn't know anymore than the first dude.

I take Pegasux statement much like I took the Iraqi offical press briefings before the fall of Bagdad: "Everything is fine, the troops are not massing around the city, we have been inflicting heavy damage on the US forces" and so on and so on.

I think if DTV has enough balls to put that statement out the way they did (putting a statement on a dedicated channel, and flashing a message about it at the top of every hour, basically overriding Pegasux ability to stop it), they must feel the end is truely near for Pegasux as well.

Die Pegasux, Die!

I doubt they'd know anything with some sort of legal action supposedly pending, and I doubt even more that they'd say "yes" even if they knew that we could.

If anyone wants to call, what they say might be amusing even if it wouldn't be informative, though.

Moving into Pegasux territory

Guys...any insight on this.....

I currently live in Pegasux territory (Lexington, KY). However, I am subscribed with a bogus address that is in Directv territory. However, as of last Friday, Lexington locals are available with my real address. My question is this, if I call Directv to "move" back home (into what is currently Pegasux territory) will they force me to change to Pegasux then, convert me back to Directv in a few months, or will they let me stay a Directv customer and eliminate the middle step?

Thanks for the help!

I hate to say it, but only one way to find out..... you're gonna have to call them. Let us know what they say. You could tell them that you're thinking of moving to your real address and ask if you'll have to go with Pegasus or if they'll move you. Since you're only thinking of moving, no harm no foul.
