Note Update on 3.1.0c video playback issue (a fix is coming!)

I just wanted to give Series1 customers who have seen the video playback issues in 3.1.0c a heads up that a new software version is coming.

We are beginning the 3.1.0c2 rollout tonight. We believe that this software version should fix the issues reported in various threads. This software will be sent to all Series1 DIRECTV DVRs with TiVo (Service numbers start with 001, 011, 031) over the course of the next few weeks.

For those of you who are anxious, you can sign up for the priority list at:

http://research.tivo.com/310c2priority

It may still take a couple of days for you to get the software, but adding youself to the list will likely speed things up. We appreciate your feedback and patience while we worked with DIRECTV to fix this issue as soon as possible.

This is great. Really quickly resolved. As a Series 1 combo owner, this makes me feel appreciated. Thanks TiVo/DirecTV!

I'm not affected by this problem, but I am very impressed with the speed at which this update came out!

Yes, really good job (I'll assume the fix works ). Now I really hope that if anyone calls DTV about the problem before they see this they'll be informed properly. It'll be interesting to see some anecdotes.

Thanks for the heads up Bill.

And give the software guys kudos for a quick recovery (I'm sure they've already gotten a butt chewing for the bug).

While I personally have some how not gotten this problem, I very much appreciate our TiVo employee forum members being allowed to keep us informed.

Good job getting this fix fast tracked!

Note Danke

Were our problem description postings helpful? Or was is just our sheer ranting and carrying around torches and beating at the door that did it?

TivoBill any help with 3.1.1c series 2 DVR's??

Would you be able to comment on any fixes for Series 2 folks with 3.1.1c software that are having the same problems with the video/audio as everyone else here? Any info is much appreciated.

Has anyone else with S2 boxes had occurrences of lost sync?

I have not had DTV boxes long, but since the latest upgrade I get sync lost a lot. All I have to do is pause and play to get it synced up again....

For my Series 2 units, I would have to say the Sync problem has gotten significantly BETTER. I don't think in the last three months, I have had to do the pause/play trick on any of my 5 units.

Likewise.

I might suggest that those who have not had this issue not sign up for the priority download so that those that are having problems can get an earlier shot at the new patch.

Almost 500 posts/month since joining and you only have access from work? Gee, must be a rather unique job to have your employer pay for all that!

What about those of us that were too A-scared to even hook up their phone lines when they heard about the problem and have been incurring the nag screens?

I just hope it fixes everything but am going to wait for a ton of postings saying it does before I even think about getting B overwritten. I just want my closed captioning back darnnit.

In the same boat with one receiver. Still on B, phone unplugged. Waiting to hear the water's fine before jumping back in! In the meantime the nag screens were nothing compared to the alternative (potential for munged recordings.)

Just got it installed. I signed up for the priority list, forced a call 30 minutes later, and there it was.

I too put one of my TiVos on the prioity list and got the update to load shortly thereafter.

First of all, it DOES seem to fix the problem. As you may know, I was able to reproduce the problem at will, and since updating to C2, I can not make the problem reappear.

C2 also seems to have a different set of channel logos, at least in Now Playing. For example, the SciFi logo has gone from just the "Saturn" outline to the full logo with the word "SciFi." The CBS logo is also much larger. I'd have to compare the NP on my other 2 S1s to verify more, but several others seem to be different.

Question Out of curiousity...

Thanks for the update. I signed my box up last night, forced a call last night and this morning but still haven't gotten the update yet.

Does anybody know if this fixes the other "new" 3.1.xc problem dealing with the inadvertent recording of Music Channels using wishlists?

As I said, it can take a couple of days for you to receive the update. I don't believe that we have actually "prioritized" anybody yet so those people who got the update already probably were just in the first wave of the rollout.

Have we ever gotten a definitive report on what 3.1.0c (and now 3.1.0c2) were supposed to fix in the first place?

We know about the "erroneous guide data message," but how about the Closed Captioning being out of sync?

And the fact that my "Channels I Receive" and "Favorite Channels" listings would get reset constantly? (This is a pain because when I browse through programs to record, I end up seeing thousands of shows I can't watch or record. And occasionally I would mistakenly choose a show on the east coast network rather than the west coast one, and the recording would fail. The problem is made worse by the fact that the interface to add/remove channels from these listings is very awkward to use.)

This is the first I've heard about wishlists inadvertently picking up Music Channels, but then again I don't think I have any ARWL's.

I'd like to know specifically what has been fixed/changed/rolled back, if that's possible.

I'm not to prioritize my box. Since its fine as far as I can tell, I can wait. I hope it works for those who have this issue.

That is not a problem with the DirecTiVo, it is DirecTV who changed the music channels names to include popular band names. Remove the music channels from the channels I receive list and complain to DirecTV.
