Joe Schmo 2 - Ep. 9 - "Finale" - 8/10/04 - *SPOILERS*

I've been starting the "new show" threads on Sunday nights, and decided to do this one tonight due to the increased interest in the finale.

Two notes as reminders:

* The finale airs - and as far as we know, only once - TUESDAY at 9 PM ET/PT. Check your local listings for other time zones, as they say! It is TWO HOURS long, so in the Eastern and Pacific time zones, it runs from 9 to 11 PM. Again, Tuesday! Monday's airing after WWE will be a repeat of Ep. 8.

* ESPECIALLY in this thread, as it's the finale... BEFORE Tuesday night, please apply spoiler tags to anything that foreshadows the episode! Some stuff has been given away in the promos, some has actually ended up in the TV Guide listing for the finale, believe it or not! (None of it is really all that "fatal" as far as spoilers go, but please spoiler anything you're not sure about, if you post before the show airs.)

To "spoiler tag", do this:

{spoiler}Joe Schmo 2 is ending!{/spoiler}

Only instead of the } brackets, use the [ brackets.

Enjoy...for we're at the end of our wild JS2 ride. Or, as a certain native of Mt. Lebanon, PA might say if he were here... "we're not getting any more good TV out of them!"

So you mean I can't say that "I'm shocked that Bryce comes in with a machine gun and shoots everyone except Tim and Amanda" until Tuesday night?

Um...I hate to admit this...but does it make me a complete cad if I'm hoping my grandfather waits to die until AFTER the finale?

Yeah. Yeah, it does. Nevermind.

After staring at the SpikeTV Joe Schmo 2 Press Kit cover for weeks, I finally realized that the picture reminded me of a Chinese New Year card I received last year.

Press kit:

Card:

The difference is that the company in Taiwan had no idea what the drawing of the little boy standing behind the sheep might mean to someone in North America. On the other hand, Tim's position behind Ingrid is unmistakable (at least to a mind warped by JS2 Episode 2, et seq.).

All this time I had been wondering why no one in the media ever published the Press Kit picture. I only figured out a few days ago that they were all smart enough to know they were being Schmoed.

Second best series finale ever!

Johnny Smith saw it in a vision.

Hmm. Never thought about catering our little two person finale party, but there's a supermarket across the road...

And sorry about that, melsbud!! I just figured that we'd be talking a LOT about the upcoming finale, so this thread sort of serves as a preview in addition to holding the place for actual discussion after the show airs.

I am so excited and psyched about it...but like my fellow Schmo-head I'll be watching with, I, too, am "down" knowing that this is the end. I wanted 18 episodes!

Just like JS2 is not a direct clone of JS1, I'm sure the finale won't be a clone of Matt's reveal (if only because the circumstances are quite different, not to mention Tim and Amanda's personalities!). But I'm sure it'll be great, enjoyable, well-produced TV...and you couldn't keep me away with all the horses at the Kentucky Derby.

Gee, I sure hope they bring Ernie back. The show just wasn't the same without him. He was so... um... he had such... Who was Ernie again?

The person I wish we saw more of this season is Valerie Azlynn (Piper). Unfortunately, her character had to be too normal and quiet so she was always in the background. Hopefully, we'll be seing a bit more of her in the finale. In an earlier thread someone suggested that they put her complete rendition of Danny Boy on the DVD. I'd agree with that.

I just wanted to send a big thank you for being such big supporters of Joe Schmo 2 and being especially kind regarding my performance as both a Schmo and Schmo-Turned-Actress. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to hearing what you think of the finale. Tim, Amanda and I have not been able to preview the finale, so we are all three anxious for its debut-Expect more laughs and more twists. We are all going to watch together at Tim's bar in DC along with friends and family. I like the idea of catering the party with a theme (maple donuts, pork, beans, frog legs, roast falcon, and body shots)

Dear Ingrid:

I knew you were lurking all along! Thank you for finally posting!

By the way, Happy Birthday!!! It must have been a rockin' weekend in D.C.

So is your birthday really August 6 or August 8? (I know that we can't believe everything we read on the Internet but one would at least think that your sister's former website would be reasonably reliable.)

Yikes! I can't believe you found my sisters web-site. She tried to hide it before the launch of the show. She's an amazing lady, eh? Every bit my living hero. Thank you for the birthday wishes! I'm blushing.... My birthday was actually August 6th but I am still in celebratory mood. I spent the weekend with new friends having my first Hamptons experience. I'm throwing a BBQ this next weekend to celebrate with friends.

Your caught me, I am a secret lurker! Who wouldn't want to be a fly-on-the-wall?

Hey, she likes me (or, at least, my writing). Therefore, it must really be her.

Ingrid! I'm going to say this has about a 99 percent chance of actually being Ingrid, guys. Doesn't sound impostor-ish to me!

I spent the weekend in Phoenix, where I went out for a drink with two of the biggest Joe fans in the world. Thanks, guys, it was fun meeting you both!

That was from her speach to the NGO Forum on Women where she also said, "To this can be added the fact that, to the best of my knowledge, no war was ever started by women." I suppose she is unfamiliar with Celtic history which is full of women warriors charging into battle for land, cattle and honor. She has also never been to a family reunion.

The Ingrid in your fantasy likes you, Original Jane likes your detailed writing, therfore Original Jane must be the real Ingrid. I don't think the syllogism holds.

Oh geeze! How could I forget you? So sorry... you are another favorite. I actually have a soft spot for everyone on this thread and the TIVO community in general. You have all been really kind!

I just couldn't fit you all within the message length limit... Does anyone here really stick to that limit?

Well, I'll assume that with the Official Muggum Seal of Approval(tm), this is the one and only Ingrid joining our happy little group. And if it was an imposter, not many would be able to dig up a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate for their quote...

Ingrid, thank you for joining us. We're kind of an odd bunch...we watch, we travel 2000 miles to watch with a friend, we watch again, we pause our TiVos and pick stuff out...half the time I expect us to start talking about Tribbles and warp speed ratios. (And this weekend, I half expected someone to pause over his lemonade and say "hey, GET A LIFE!" ) But as I'm sure you've figured out by now, "Joe" is a special show. Many of us have been around since the start of JS1, and we're glad 2's been a highly entertaining experience as well.

It was great watching you turn from Suspicious Jane to Actress. As I've said, though I do adore Amanda and glad your turn of events brought her to us, the show wouldn't have been the same without you... both questioning everything but the actors' breathing patterns, and taking part in the fun after it was revealed to you. (Actually, from what I've gathered, you probably DID question the actors' breathing patterns. )

I'm very much looking forward to Tuesday!

And Muggum...thank YOU. And it's been a blast having you here. You are truly a producer who *cares* about not only his craft and how it turns out, but the folks who appreciate it. You've been with us the entire time, even when some of us veered dangerously into that Star Trek territory

Now, I'm getting all emotional, darn it! I need a 2 hour TV show soon to make me laugh my tail off...

Geez, a guy stops working near a webcam and suddenly everybody forgets him ...

If that's truly you, Ingrid ... thanks for popping in. We had several of the actors last year, and the interaction between us, them and Muggum helped develop our fanaticism. Hopefully we can suck a bunch of insight and info out of you in a short time, lol.

You're a credit to us paranoids everywhere
