Dallas is my primary residence, and I am actually there from time to time. I should be able to make any weekend activities. Weekday activities are a bit more iffy. Depends on work.

OK, as far as dates, here's what we're looking at....

Friday, October 29th: Brisket Tacos luncheon for the last Friday of the month, maybe something later at night (we could revive the Dallas Happy Hour function, perhaps?)

Saturday, October 30th: The huge Halloween block party down in Oak Lawn. I'm going to check with my folks and see if they wouldn't mind if we had an afternoon, pre-BlockParty shindig at their house (unless anyone else wants to offer up their place). It would make it easier to carpool down to the 'Lawn, too.

Sunday: ???

OK, Dallas folks, y'all must have some great ideas, so let's throw out ideas.

Sunday is gonna be mostly out for me, since I'll be at the Lions/Cowboys game during the day .. it's scheduled for noon, unless Fox pulls it for a later 3pm start (which is unlikely, since by then we'll have a combined record of 0-12)

Sunday evening we can party though!

I wouldn't be able to come Friday the 29th. I always have to be at the office on the last business day of every month. Phooey.

I could come Saturday morning and go home Monday morning, though. Any chance of scoring brisket tacos or buffalo burgers on Sunday?

Would I need a costume for the big Halloween block party?

But there's nothing standing in the way of this trip right now. So put me down as a definite possible.

Buffalo burgers are Tuesday and Thursday only.

I assume Mia's is open on Sunday.

If I still have my house we can have something there, but I hope to not be the owner by October.

I'd prefer brisket tacos to buffalo burgers, anyway, so that works fine for me!

Gray, my friend... for you, I would personally drive you down to Mia's on a Saturday or Sunday, just so you could enjoy the savory delicacy of Brisket Tacos.

OK, maybe not JUST you, in case anyone else wanted to squeeze into my Ion. But if you asked nice, I'd totally take you down for a separate trip.

No costume needed for the block party. Just bring some disposable cameras. The costumes there are just incredible.

Oooooo.

I want a Yukon *so* badly.

Be careful when you're here Hippster or they might find your body floating in the Trinity and a Yukon parked in my driveway.

So, I want to fly into DFW, right?

Whoa, 4 hours in the air? Better use some FF miles to upgrade to Business Class.

Yep, DFW is the airport you want.

I'm going to look into hotels. There are some good ones in the area that are usually cheap.

Continental wants $302 for round-trip. That's the only airline where I can upgrade to first class.

Any other airlines with comfortable coach seats -- like Midwest Express -- that fly from Newark or New York LaGuardia to DFW?

Did you check American? Don't forget, AA is Dallas' biggest airline..

I'll check American only if the coach seats are more comfortable than average.

WTF?! $138 roundtrip?! Holy moly! Is that a misprint?!

Yep, it's a misprint. When I actually book the flight, the fare goes up to $307. Why am I not surprised?

I'll stick to Continental and upgrade to first class.

Woo-hoo! Par-ty!

Dallas is a long haul from where I'm at, but I'll see if I can make it...

I'll even try to get Mrs. bsnelson to come, and shoot, maybe even her kids if we have them that weekend and we're doing kid-friendly things.

For those of you coming from out of town, I can recommend the Bradford Homesuites in Richardson as a nice place to stay. It's only $59 a night for an Executive suite with a queen size bed, and an upgrade to the deluxe suite is only $10 more per night.

It's located in a nice area, you're close to all the major fast food places (Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Quiznos, Chipotle, and Subway are all within a 2 minute drive), and it's close to all the Richardson folks (and the Happy Hour bar we usually go to). It's a bit far out from the airport (about a 30 minute drive), but everything is spaced out a bit here.

Whoknows55 stayed at the Bradford during his brief visit to the Lone Star state, and had no complaints.

If you go to hotels.com or travelocity.com and look for hotels in the Richardson, TX area, you can find it pretty quickly that way.

Will I be needing a car if I want to stay at the Bradford Homesuites? Those are mighty nice prices.

Pretty much, if the town you're staying in doesn't begin with "Dallas", you'll need a car. We're not big into this public transportation thing here, and taxi drivers would probably be scared to death if (a) you even found one and (b) you tried to hail them.

(I'm sure some of the locals will point out exceptions, but they're few and far between)

You're pretty much gonna need a car no matter what. The airport is about 30 minutes from Richardson, and 15 minutes from Downtown Dallas, so nothing is entirely close to the airport (and public transit isn't nearly as dispersed as it should be). I wish I could offer various cars for people and their transportation like we had in Hotlanta, but I only have my own.

I'm more than happy to help out with a few transfers to/from the airport, though.

For those with an abundance of Hilton HHonors points, the Hampton Inn Richardson has rooms for 7,500 points a night - which is as cheap as their rewards can get. It is in the same area as the Bradford that Skittles has mentioned.

I'm booked Thursday night - Monday morning.

EDIT: So that means I'm definitely coming to Hotallas!
