TC-Con 2005: The Star Trek Experience

EDITED on April 12, 2005:

Hello everyone! We're now accepting payments for Star Trek Experience tickets. Each ticket is $19.99 per person, and offers unlimited entry into both rides for the entire day of June 14th.

Online payments can be made via Paypal through this web link. Online payments are $20.87.. $19.99 for the ticket, 88cents for the Paypal fee.

If you'd like to pay via check, feel free to PM myself or Hippster and we'll forward you a mailing address. You can also use the link on the payment page (which is linked above) to send an email to Hippster requesting the mailing address.

Cutoff date, both for refunds and ticket purchases, is June 8th.

The official date of the Star Trek Experience gathering is Tuesday, June 14th. We will be meeting up at 1pm in the lobby of the Star Trek Experience, and will be going into the rides shortly after that. We'll also have tables reserved for us at Quark's, with plenty of time to have some Borg Spheres, Warp Core Breaches, and Oomox.

The Star Trek Experience is located at the Las Vegas Hilton, at the far far end of the Vegas Strip. To get there, you will need to either take a taxi, or ride the monorail to the LV Hilton. The LV Hilton monorail exit leads you directly into the lobby for the ST Experience.

If you've never ridden the Star Trek Experience before, you're in for the time of your life. The two rides are wholly incredible... part motion simulator, part 4-D movie, and with lots of cool effects that are too amazing to be spoiled here in a post. Even a non-Star Trek fan can usually appreciate a ride like this. You can check out the official site at this link for more information.

Any questions, please let me know. Thanks, guys!

Me! (maybe the Mrs, but she's not a Trekker. It's her one major marital flaw.)

She doesn't have to be a Trekkie... it's just fun being with the group.

Right, even if the Mrs isn't a Trekkie. She does like alcohol, right? That's one of the attractions for STE.

I'm a little shaky on this one.... I'm really not a ST fan, I've never quite understood the draw, but I would love to participate in these types of get togethers... and who doesn't love to drink a little? =)

off topic a little - I'm just curious what the age spread of the meet is looking like. I'm 23, so I know I'm in on the young side... are there others around my same age that will be attending?

Just show up to Quark's Bar after everyone has gone through the "rides".

As far as age goes, are you saying all of us are a bunch of old people?

Is it free to get into the bar? That's probably the route I'd want to take.

lol.... I was really trying not to make it seem like I was calling everyone old in my question - that's not what I meant =). I believe that the age range around here is skewed more towards the lower to mid 30's, but I could be wrong. I'm pretty much used to being the youngest where ever I go, but I was just curious if there would be others attending in my general age range.

Oh yeah. You can go to the bar without paying to go on the ride things.

Not sure who is in your age range that is going. But I would not worry. Us mid 30's guys can be pretty cool. Well, some of us can.

Somehow I think it'd be more fun to go on the ride AFTER Quark's.

I haven't talked about going to the Con yet, still considering it.

But, IF I go, I will be wanting to stay long enough not to miss out on this!

faerie, I'm 23 (and I went last year). I was one of the younger ones, but I didn't find it mattered much at all. I had a great time with everyone, including some of the oldest! I think you'll have a great time.

Even if you don't like Star Trek, the Experience is still a fun thing to do with everybody. And it's pretty much just a 'ride' with a theme. It's goofy and silly but fun. And Quark's is great!

Skittles, count me in. How could I miss an opportunity to get prodded in the ass again? :P Or watch everyone else get the same.
