HFS! Just read there will be no new episodes until February. Starting next week they are going to replay the entire season so far with new eps in Feb. Apparently they only ordered 13 eps to begin with and need more time to make more episodes!

Wow, just finished watching, and pop in here... there's already 56 responses to this episode. And some pretty thought provoking ideas.

I didn't think that much about Walt wishing for backgammon rolls!

I'm worried about Charlie too. He's alive, but why? Did the island claim him, or did Jack save him? And surely those thumps to his chest must have broken a rib or two.

I'm thinking it's a door that Locke found, but I'm not sure of the origin. My first fear was that if they climbed down, it would be into a bear cage!

But where would the metal come from? Could the scientific expedition have salvaged it from the ship?

I set TiVo to go ahead and record the two hour pilot again. It was just too tempting after hearing about all the mystery to be revealed. It's going to be a long 4 weeks!

One thing I am confused about. When Jack fought Ethan, were they implying that was a dream? Kate didn't see or hear it. But it seemed real to Jack, sort of like when Claire thought someone was trying to hurt the baby and everyone thought it was a dream.

Or did it really happen and Kate was too far away?

What does this mean for Lost? Well, in order to fuel the fire they have going for them, they need more episodes, and they need time to film them. So for those of you who haven't seen the entire series so far, this is your lucky time of year as the show goes on temporary hiatus. Starting December 15th, the show will rerun from the Pilot (in full), and continue down the line until the target date of February. From there, they'll start with Episode 11 called "Whatever The Case May Be" and finish out the season on time in May with however many episodes they decide to finish off the season with

So we have to wait two months for new shows! Well, at least they are going to make more!

Well, I wanted to make comments as I read through the thread without having to go back again and again to talk about points I liked.

As for Ethan and Jack, I think it was a real fight. Jack had done the Michael Douglas mud slide, Kate managed to hang on. By the time she climbed down, Ethan was gone.

Besides, Jack heard Claire screaming, so I'm thinking those 3 (or more?) were close.
-----------

Back on Charlie's revival. The first, maybe second, thing Jack did was to check his pupils. I assumed he saw a reaction that gave him hope that Charlie could be revived.

It wasn't really the Michael Douglas slide...Kate wasn't at the bottom.

Normally, you'd be right! However, it was just easer to post as I read rather than try to create one long multi-quote response. It's late for me too.

------------------

I don't have a problem with Kate not hearing the screams. It was raining, Jack was a bit ahead of her, she was stressing out about trying to track. I think the storm noise could have been too loud, and she just missed it.

But this show does this kind of thing to us all the time! It's part of the mystery!

I was surprised to learn that I share a birthday today with TWO of the cast members (Dominic Monaghan - "Charlie" and Ian Somerhalder - "Boone").

Say "yea" for December 8th!

OK, sorry... The character's name is John Locke, which is a direct reference to the John Locke, the same way Rousseau's name is a direct reference to a philosopher named Rousseau. Beyond that, though - his last name is Locke, which is pronounced the same as the word 'lock.' Nobody calls him John (he actually asked to be called John in this episode); they all call him Locke (or lock), which could have interesting possibilities for the future.

The biggest problem with this show is the ammount of time we have to wait for fresh episodes. Now its gonna be a MONTH before any new ones come on.

I think the island is artificial. Maybe the OTHERS they keep hearing are the audience on some sort of weird reality show in another dimension.

I can't fault them with taking some time off now, they didn't take the normal Thanksgiving break (I know they had a week off after, but they did have a new show on the night before).

BTW, will they be playing all the episodes before we start again (and in order)? I have a friend that didn't watch and after telling him about the show would like too, but I told him not to start in the middle.

What was the conversation between Sayid and Sawyer?

Thanks for your help!

So are we to believe that Walt's dad is gay? Or when he was speaking of his other Father did he mean his mother's husband. I thought the look he gave meant that he gave too much away.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Locke's being able to predict the rain starting down to the minute "give or take a few seconds."

Previously, we learned that Michael didn't raise Walt. He went to Australia to pick him up because he mother died. I am assuming that his mother and husbanc (his "other" dad) died. Or maybe Michael kidnapped him.

I am very interested in Hurley now. He said that he is "considered a warrior of sorts" where he comes from. Is there any proof that HE was on the airplane?

I think his nickname "Hurley" is tied in, it seems a little obvious but I am going with wrestler.

Spoiler from Entertainment Weekly article:

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
They said that everyone was connected in some way and that will be revealed in the future. This is going to get interesting.

Or the kid seeming to be able to roll the dice and get whatever faces he wanted to show to come up. The kid who spends time with Locke.

Does anybody else think that Charlie came back to life because Jack wished for it? If so, what will be his price to pay?

Was this the price Charlie had to pay for getting his guitar?

Did anybody else think that perhaps Ethan and Locke were working together? I thought by the end of the episode that Locke and Ethan would end up meeting together.

Locke sure has let his "leadership" role go to his head....he was very demeaning to both Michael and Jack.
