Exclamation February 26, 2005 D.C. meet-up???

I will be in D.C. for a yearly conference that starts on 2/27. I would love to meet the East Coast/ D.C. contingent of TCF'ers. Last year, there was a meet-up the week before and I was very sorry to have missed everyone.

What do you think?

Hmmm, what about Turtleboy. I couldn't have offended him that much in Atlanta

Paging Turtleboy, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Cool, I should be around. Hopefully. My condo goes on the market March 1st, and I'm having the open house that weekend. My realtor may encourage me to leave town so I don't mess it up.

PS -- This is why I hate the idea of a meets area. Had Thaed not PMed me pointing me to this thread, I wouldn't have seen it.

If it was a month earlier I could've made it. I'll be in DC January 7-10.

Ahh - the Meets Area is, indeed, difficult to notice new posts in! Perhaps we need a 'sub-forum subscription'? Does the software support it?

Feb end should be do-able for me ... (yeah, except 2/29!)

Still coming to D.C., Thaed?

Right now it looks like I will be in town that weekend. So I've been thinking about ideas for an area get-together. Is anyone interested in some Vietnamese food out here in Virginia? I can think of a few places right on the Metro near Clarendon or we could gather for pre-dinner Margaritas at my place (also right on the Metro) and then take some cabs (or carpool, if we have some designated drivers) to Eden Center, a plaza very close to me with several Vietnamese restaurants, including some pho places.

If there's enough interest, I'll find out which restaurants could handle a large group.

Sounds good to me! I'll just take a cab wherever we go anyway.

Sticks??

OK, I'll admit I'm in the suburbs. But they're relatively close-in suburbs. And I'm very close to the Metro and to a taxi cab stand, very handy for those without cars. And everyone knows the best Vietnamese food is in Virginia, not in D.C.

Now jradosh, he lives in the sticks.

If you are near metro, you are not in the sticks. And in Allie's case, she is inside the beltway so she is definitely not in the sticks period.

Also, the mailman brings the mail all the way to my front door. When I was a kid, my definition of "sticks" was any house where you had to walk out to the street to get your mail from the mailbox. I'm sure others will differ.

Anyway, how many of us are there? It doesn't sound like a big enough group to require a special banquet room, unless some more people come out of the woodwork.

Here are the people who said they should be around that weekend. Did I miss anyone? If anyone else thinks they can make it, please post here so I can get a vague idea of the headcount before checking for viable restaurants.

Ugh - my cuz and his colleague/s are visiting DC for a conference that entire preceding week, so I'll be in host mode until and (possibly) through the weekend. I'll keep you folks posted ...
