What do you think the chances are that Walt caused his mother's illness? A blood disorder that results in death in a week? I just wonder what else there is to that part of the story.

The Beyonder, maybe? Actually has more of a "The Stand" feeling to it than a "Secret Wars" feeling. But yes, I agree. Don't know who Hawkins is, though.

Ok, I need Doug's help here with a screen cap. When Charlie was reading the diary on my HD set I paused and was reading the page where she was saying that Charlie made her feel safe, but there were also imprinted words that were backwards on the pages along with two arrows. One arrow went up, one arrow went down. I tried reading the words but I could make them out. I need some help. What do the arrows mean?

I wouldn't think anything of it, but if Claire were writing in her diary on the previous page, then the imprint wouldn't have been backwards. I can't figure out why it was other than to confuse the viewer so now I want to know what it said.

Did anyone else notice a picture of an island with some sort of dome over it in the comic book? I havn't gone back to look at it but that's at least what it looked like to me at first glance.

Yes, there was a dome in Antartica in the comic book. (It's a Flash/Green Lantern comic from several years back). It involves aliens being kidnapped by the UG govt and being experimented on, and then the superheroes end up going to the aliens' dimension.

I definitely don't like Walt. I didn't like the character before he had possible super-powers, and now I like him less.

It was a good episode nevertheless.

I dunno. After hearing ABC's blurbs about this episode "revealing more than any other," I was very disappointed in tonight's airing. And then to see next week is a repeat, I'm starting to wonder if I should hold on to this show.

The first three to four episodes were still in my opinion the very best, especially the one about Locke (that was AWESOME).

Lately, kinda feeling a bit let down.

Ok, the last line of the 2nd page is "Charlie _____ and felt so..."

thats all I can make out so far....I can't piece the blank together.

Thanks hefe!

***Edit*** Ahh got it, guess it doesn't mean much.

The lines that are legible are:

"I took...

Charlie today and felt so..."

Wonder what the arrows are though

Looks like Claire hadn't heard about the "End of Late Fees"

She still owed a DVD to blockbuster.

Also wonder what the "I HATE HIM" comment was.

And the smudge in the upper right hand corner of page one...that looks like a digital smudge to me....

Sister?

What ever happened to Boone's sister? Were the episodes out of order or what? Am I just crazy?

- Didn't Boone look a little concerned when told that Michael was going to build a raft. Nobody leaves the island!

Man - I gotta get HD - on "regular" television, the edges of this shot were not visible so I had to infer that she meant something about a scary place and Charlie making her feel safe...

WHAT ELSE AM I MISSING???

Didn't notice that, but I did notice that Boone has definitely become Locke's personal groupie... Though I did get a smug sense of satisfaction when Hottie Sister tried to use him to join the raft-building consoritum so she could get off the island...

So everyone with a widescreen HDTV misses the edges of TV programs? I thought I was the only one.

Yeah no kidding. That's a pretty big hit to take, setting yourself up as the bad guy to lessen the emotional burden on your child.

They should build the raft anyway, if only to make fishing easier and to map the island. For all they know, there's a McDonalds on the other side of the island.

Locke could kick everybody's butt on the island. I don't inderstand why Boone would try to defend him.

They've really got to invest more imagination into the Sawyer character. Having him take everything that's not nailed down and fighting over it is getting real old.

Regarding the black vs. white theme... Walt is black and has "powers". Claire's baby is white and has some as of yet unknown destiny. I wonder if that means something.

So Jin feels comfortable speaking English to Michael and Kate but only speaks Korean to her husband and everyone else. How long can that last before her husband finds out?

Oh, and Locke won another person to his side.

Charlie, Boone, and now I bet Michael, will be his loyal soldiers.

My guess is that she's referring to the boyfriend in Sydney that got her knocked up, and then dumped her.

I loved a lot of the plot progression in this episode, even if just about everyone here had already surmised that Walt had some special powers. The only real issue I had with how slowly paced Michael's backstory was, without telling us a whole lot about him... although, I sure freaked out when he got hit by the car. Didn't see that coming, and it happened at a point in the story where the tension was already pretty high.

Claire coming back.... I sorta saw it coming. I'm willing to bet she managed to escape in the middle of the night from Black Rock. I don't think they've taken the baby yet.

The CGI of the bear was pretty bad. Even if it was only for a few seconds of viewing, it looked pretty hoaky. In a scene where I'm supposed to feel tense and concerned for Walt's safety, my only thought was "This is the best they can do? The Coca-Cola bears almost look better than that!"

The picture in Walt's comic book of the island on top of a "hill" made me rewind a few times. From what I can tell, it almost looks like it's on a hill of water in an ocean, as though it's far above everything else... lending much more credence to the theories that it's a purgatory, or in a Bermuda Triangle-like area where they'll never be found (and, likely, will mean that Michael's raft will be someone's death barge).

And I didn't catch it last night, but... did Boone still have bruises on his neck? I noticed that Charlie still had a few, but wasn't paying attention with Boone.

Because he spent a lot of time hanging out with the kid. Playing backgammon, teaching him to throw a knife. I'm sure at one point the kid told him.

That was the first thing that came to my mind.

WALT: "Dad? How come you weren't a part of my life when I was a baby?"

MICHAEL: "Well, I got hit by a car and ended up in a wheelchair. Then I spent some time in prison...I'd rather not talk about it."

I wondered if someone was going to make that connection. Walt is the Billy Mummy character from an old Twilight Zone. Whatever he thinks of happens. If he can learn to control it and has an evil streak, then people he doesn't like will just disappear. Gee, was he pissed at going back to the US, so then the plane comes apart?

Or we could be way off, who knows?
