Hotlando - Friday in the Park

OK, it seems a few folks will be in town on Thursday night or early Friday morning, so I wanted to throw this out there.

Hippster and I are going to be at the Disney-MGM studios on Friday morning (March 4th), and it tentatively looks like we may have Turtleboy joining us as well. So if anyone else wants to join us, let us know and we can figure out where to meet.

Have I mentioned I'm seriously jonesing to ride the Rock n Rollercoaster, and see Muppetvision 3-D, and do at least 3 rides of Star Tours?

BTW, TB... do you want to join us for Buffet Breakfast at the Animal Kingdom Lodge on Friday morning? We've got a priority seating assignment at 7:30AM and I can kick it up another person if you'd like to join us.

They have an amazing Kenyan coffee (freshly ground/pressed) and their Frunch is to die for.

OK, Turtleboy is officially "in" for Friday (both breakfast and the MGM). Anyone else?

Unfortunately, if I came on Friday, four pages wouldn't get published in the paper, and my boss would tell me that there'd be no need for me to come back on Monday.

A Star Wars themed simulator ride. But it's inside MGM Studios at Disney, so you have to pay full admission to get in there to ride it.

Totally worth it, though, Greg.... lots of cool rides and attractions there. If you're gonna be in Hotlando that Friday, you should join us.

I'm still on the fence. I got a ton of things going at work and I'm a bit skosh on vacation days right now.

Airfares are pretty cheap so I might be able to grab a flight at the last minute and not pay out the nose...

Oh, and for anyone else intereresting in joining Hippster, Turtleboy, and myself for the Friday morning breakfast buffet at Boma's, let me know. We've got a reservation at 7:30AM, to make sure we can get a full day in at MGM (and we're gonna need it.... ) and I can make changes to it for another week and a half without any availability concerns.

The menu for Boma's breakfast buffet can be found here.

(I have a serious craving for Frunch, now)

You don't need admission to AK to eat there, right?

Correct... this is at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is a hotel near the AK. It's a pretty nice hotel, too, and you can see the animals grazing on the grounds early in the morning.

Muppetvision 3-D is great fun! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that, much more than I had thought I would.

Star Tours used to be my favorite ride in the world. Then some people complained it was TOO violent and they toned it down. It's still fun, but it doesn't have the incredible sensation of movement that it used to have when it first opened. Rumor has it that if you get there really early or really late and there's not many people around, you can convince the operator to use the original settings, but I've never had any luck with that.

Realllllly?

*popping knuckles*

Looks like I need to get a little friendly with an operator.

Me too. The whole thing is done so well, and it's obvious that they had the Muppet fans in mind when they did it. Even the preshow rocks.

That's the entire reason I'd come down the day early (please please please let me come).

Well that, and y'all.

No, we're staying at the Dolphin. Animal Kingdom Lodge is about 5 minutes away from us at that time of morning.

Hmm... OK

I won't be staying at a Disney property. 7:30 is REALLY early, especially for breakfast. I'll be coming from off site, so I assume it won't be super convenient. I'll have to think about this breakfast thing. But I'm still interested in hitting the park.

The park will be crowded, right? The Disney web page says that weekend is during peak season.

Yep... so we're gonna need to do a little creative planning when it comes to Fastpasses and whatnot.

But no matter what, we MUST have lunch at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

I dunno. I think having the dessert menu on Viewmasters kind of trumps the coolness of sitting in a car and eating your meal while watching old sci-fi movies.
