Exclamation DirecTV web page about 6.2 upgrade

DirecTV has a page up about the coming 6.2 upgrade.

They say that Series 1 and the HR10-250 will not get the upgrade, the rest is all as we thought... From what it says the R10 will get this version too, so I wonder what will be different for it.

(Sorry if this was already posted, but I didn't see it.)

I don't know what will be different for the R10's, they're running 6.1

No, we get faster menus and guides too. (Which I think are more important than folders.)

This is what we heard was coming, I didn't expect any more yet.

Well, I suppose it's at least a sign that they haven't "totally" abandoned the platform, which is, I guess, sort of encouraging in light of recent news.

Still a big YAWN, though. Unless this includes MRV (or can be patched to enable MRV) I'll be sticking at 4.0.1b on my 5 DTiVos.

Actually the only thing I have wanted in my DirecTivo is folders. Having a hard drive upgrade it's a pain right now to find older shows if you miss a weak or two. I hope it is faster, my HDVR2 is so painfully slow since the hard drive upgrade.

If it is like the R10 it will have lba48 support. Of course DirecTV will not announce lba48 support because they do not make a stock TiVo with more than 105 hours. Only people modifing there machines, which DirecTV does not support, need lba48 support.

I think we also get powered USB ports. I can now finally use my USB massage ball.

I am very glad the DirecTV has actually announced a release and it has release notes

Not so fast, we recieved a software upgrade to our UltimateTVs just before support for them was abandonded.

Good point. So much for trying to dig up a "silver lining" out of this otherwise useless news....

Welp, my SAT-T60 won't get and its a good thing too! I don't want my Favorite Channels list reset!

Yes, some of your settings or preferences will be changed back to the factory default settings as a result of the upgrade. These include: "Favorite Channels," "Channels You Receive," "Spending Limits" and "Clear Channel Banner Quickly."

Just for folders? Hell no. But if this update included full blown HMO, though, I'd call it a fair trade. After all, as long as you've got a little warning ahead of time, saving that info is just a matter of spending some time in front of the TV with a notebook.

I will say, however, that I see NO technical reason at all that they couldn't save that information through the upgrade.

Not so fast... just because 6.1 has powered USB ports, doesn't mean 6.2 does.

well, if it includes lba48 support, then I'll be happy... but this upgrade just for 'faster' menus and folders? Jeez, might as well hack my DTivos with 4.01.

I'd highly recommend it. MRV kicks ass!

Stop waiting for D*, you can have it right now.

It clearly states nothing about HMO, MRV etc. You get ... folders.

I guess you missed the implication that he already knew that.

No, I got that I just hate to see people dilluding themselves with false hope. If you want HMO and MRV on a directv Tivo, you need to do it yourself.

You can sort your now playing list be the following ways:

1. Date Recorded
2. Expiration
3. Alphabetically.

When you have upgraded your Tivo to have (like I did) 150+ hours, it makes life a LOT easier to sort alphabetically.

The following command must be entered while in the now playing list

Slow Mo - zero – Rec – Thumbs Up --- Turns on sort options. You will see press info for sort options at the bottom of the screen after you enter this code.

Here are a couple more you might find useful.

These two must be done while a recorded show is playing

Select-Play-Select-Pause-Select – Makes the progress bar disappear quickly when you pause

Select-Play-Select-3-0-Select - turns button above TV INPUT into 30 second skip button.
