SNL 2/12/05 (with Jason Bateman) spoilers

Just switched over to this-I forgot it was on until now. But maybe it's because I'm a total A&E addict, but I laughed several times at the Bill Kurtis sketch. Wasn't even a good imitation, but the idea was funny.

As well as the "first black man to say no to cold, uncooked fish."

Tonight's installment was top notch and funny as hell....best episode in weeks. A few thoughts come to mind:

Finesse Mitchell and Keenan Thompson are two very funny, talented guys who have bright futures....

Kelly Clarkson was terrific...just great. She sounded good singing the two songs (they were obviously live, unlike Ashlee Simpson). Nice to see her make a guest appearance in two of the skits. Obviously, she sang. Man , that girl has serious vocal chops...but perhaps most impressive of all was her appearance, she looked phenomenal, very sexy (in a natural way) lost tons of weight and the hair was fierce....

SNL's had a pretty good run as of late. Nice to see this show picking up steam....

Horatio Sanz in drag alone makes the skit uproariously hilarious. ......Frightful yes, but funny as can be....

OMG, this is the best show in years! Hey, I'm a fan, but only really have laugh out loud moments 3-4 times a show nowdays. This is cracking the hell outta me! () I was starting to doze during the news, so I have yet to finish it, but it's great!

I didn't like Kelly Clarkson at all. To me, she was off-key, and can't really perform live.

But then again, I'm a heterosexual woman.

I didn't see it, but Hubby said the same thing about Kelly's performance. And he is a very heterosexual male!

I don't know if you saw, b/c you said you switched over late, but there were 3-4 of these, including First black man to say no to skydiving, and direct deposit.

I was disappointed with Kelly Clarkson. I'm straight, but also was and am a big American Idol fan, and a big fan of hers on there.

I don't like the way they tarted her up. It's not who she was on the show, and it's not who she has to be. Just sing. Don't engage in the slut whispering the Brittney does. You have the pipes, she doesn't. Just sing.

I totally missed the sketch but apparently there was a bit about about Weight Watchers people constantly talking about points, the Appleby's Weight Watchers menu, and Dotties Weight Loss Zone. Over at DWLZ they say Tina Fey lost 30 pounds on Weight Watchers and is probably the writer of the sketch.

That was the Bill Kurtis sketch. His juxtaposing dialogue from his latest show, "Serial Killers," with a conversation about WW points and Applebee's was the whole point of the skit. It was pretty funny.

Yeah, I was laughing at the dialogue from the "new show" that went something like this: "And then he ate their anuses" and without a beat talking about a chocolate pie Applebees has that's tasty.

I wish the Kurtis impression would have been better, but geez, it was funny.

I think the sound/mixer guys had the the music up too loud and her mike down way too low. She was fighting to sing over the music...and this is a girl who has a powerful voice.....

In the DJ Chubb skit, she sounded flawless.

I also don't think she was "dolled up" at all. She looked great IMHO (homosexual male). Kudos to her for losing the weight.

Wow...I have to disagree with many of you here. I thought this episode (along with all other eps this season) was terrible. Horatio Sanz is the same character in every sketch. He cant keep it together and does terrible accents/impressions. Kenann and Finesse dont really do it for me either. The best part of the show has been the news recently. SNL hasnt been decent since Ferrell left...

I thought Clarkson was good though...def didnt lip sync - refreshing!

I agree, the whole time during the Kil Il Jung skit I was wondering why he had a Mexican accent.

Within seconds of the beginning of her first song, my wife made the comment, "Fire the sound guy! The music's way too high and her vocals are too low."

I agree, she was having to scream to be heard, that's why her voice was a little off.

As a hetero male, I was very impressed with her appearance. A natural hottie. Not dolled up with makeup or anything, but a naturally sexy girl, dressed to impress.

I too find him very funny. His impressions, and original characters are bad two-dimensional charactatures, but bad it a way that's usually very funny.

My favorite recurring character of his is Elton John. A bad impression, in that it's so far from a "spot on" impersonation of Elton John, but it's a hilarious charactature of him.

His drunken Billy Joel, from last season, also had me laughing until it hurt! "Bottle of red / Bottle of white / Bottle of peach schnapps.. [guzzles peach schnapps from the bottle]".

I thought Clarkson sounded pretty bad on the first song. She's just doesn't have the voice for a 'rock' tune like that one. She sounded great on the second song, though. Looked great, too. Liked how they used her in a couple skits - she did real good, too.

The monkey skit was hilarious.

I thought the monkey skit was kind of stupid actually.

Kelly looked good, but the music was way too loud. She was trying to sing over it, and she still sounded pretty good. She has always looked good in my opinion, but she looks really good now after the weight loss. Still has some junk in the trunk, but it is kind of hot and I wish she would have turned around to show off the back, or lack thereof, of that blouse she was wearing. She kind of turned to the side, but I wanted to see much more.

I like the Gays in Space skit. Man, Bateman has some pasty skinny legs (heterosexual male). Oh wait, did I indicate my sexual preference in the wrong place? My bad.

The Black History Month shorts were a riot. My favorite was the direct deposit.

No, as long it is not wrong for me to agree. I really like Kelly but they did a horrible job with the sound system. I don't care for the songs she sang either as they don't do much for her but she did look fabulous.
