Yes, I saw that. He seemed to be trying to avoid the cameras.

It raises questions about his backstory, that hopefully will be finally answered next week. Why the hell was he on tv in Korea?

I'm only 21 minutes in but had to pause and run in here to exclaim I saw Hurley on Japanese TV! But I see others caught it as well. Cool.

My wife caught it. I missed it, but thank goodness for the instant replay button on the Tivo!

Once again, I really don't like Walt. Please let him at least get beat up, or maybe nibbled on by some polar bears.

You know, I was just about to post, "How many batteries does Hurley have?" literally 5 seconds before his batteries went dead.

I thought this was a very nice transitional episode, where people seemed to go from "plane crash survivors stranded on an island" to "people living on an island after surviving a plane crash"...if that makes sense.

If anyone has a good screenshot, I can try to translate what was on the TV screen. The image was too fuzzy on mine to make out details.

Good episode. They are certainly pushing a theme of why everyone is on this island.

With perfect timing, I had just said "What kind of batteries does he have!" to my wife when the player died. Couldn't have timed it better if I tried.

Beautiful, beautiful episode. They turned Jin from a cold-hearted enforcer to a man deeply devoted and desperately in love with his wife. Wow. Just wow.

would the dad, when yelling at the son in law, have said "i'm losing millions of dollars every day" ? or would he have said the native currency?

Whoa. I missed that one completely. And dang, it's those sort of details that I really like.

I was so happy to finally see Jin's backstory I guess I was concentrating on him the whole time. Back to the TiVo!

Translation of Screen Capture:

Lucky Winner, Los Angels, California

(Now that was anticlimactic)

So I'm guessing Hurley won the lottery or something.....

He never said he was losing dollars. Just money.

I posted before I saw the tail end. Very powerful ending. Jin helping Michael. The whole musical montag, then the dying batteries. I actually thought my audio channel was on the fritz the way then killed the batteries!

Everything was perfect, except for Walt's excuse. I thought it was a nice twist when Locke asked Walt why he burned the boat. "Oooh, I hadn't thought of that!" I thought. Then Walt says he likes it on the island? WTF? What kid is going to foresake his TV, movies, friends, and video games for life on a deserted island?

Otherwise, perfect episode.

Remember a while back he told (Walt?) that "I'm a warrior, of sorts" or something like that. It was suggested that he might be a video game savant or somethiing like that.

If so, that would explain why he was on a Korean TV. Pro gaming is very big over there.

Funny! I was ready to curse my ABC station cause they are always screwing up the HD .. usually the audio channels are wrong (receiver reports 5.1 sound, but it is really DD2.0 and sounds like a huge gaping hole in the middle of the sound field). I was thinking "No what have they done" and realized the abscense of audio was part of the show.

I really enjoyed this episode's twists and turns. I did notice Hurley on the TV. It crossed my mind that Hurley must have the energizer bunny working overtime for him when the music stopped...does anyone know what song was playing? Did anyone think suicide might be on Sun's mind at the end?

EXCELLENT episode. The ending was amazing, and the revelation of Sun's linguistic skills was done well.

I thought it was a waste for Hurley to use batteries to play a CD player. Then I realized there's not much they could do with AA's. But then I thought they could at least use it to power some sort of radio perhaps. So I'm going back to my original thought.

Hurley's wasting batteries.

I knew it was Walt who burned the raft from the beginning. They showed too many close-ups of his guilty face whenever anyone talked about the fire. The only question is whether he torched it, or just thought it.

Who knew the Korean auto industry was so cut-throat (almost literally)?

After Sun's confession, it would appear that Jin at least can understand English, if not speak it - at least nothing more than "boat", yet.

I liked how they talked about wanting to go back to the beginning, and now Jin is a simple fisherman, just like his father.

I'm over at my brother's house and they have a Korean exchange student living here. It's kind of fun to find out exactly what the Korean couple are saying. She says Jin speaks very bad Korean and so did the enforcer guy. Sun speaks perfect Korean. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but she said Boone's shirt was in Chinese and was the number 80. Don't know if it means anything. On this show, I think everything means something.

I saw Hurley on the TV but she could not read the caption either, until the HD screen shot above. There was another shot of the TV when the man went to grab the dog from his daughter. Does anyone have a screen shot of that one? There was Korean on the bottom of that screen as well.

Wouldn't it be funny if he had won a Survivor type reality show? Maybe he's a Rupert.

Here's the best I could get. Maybe it can be enhanced with graphic utilities:

EDIT: I think maybe that's the same text as before (same # and placement of characters)

If you want to be spoiled, next week's TV Guide says on page 124 that next week is Hurley's backstory and........

Nope, not going to do it, they give away too much.

The Artist is Damien Rice, the CD is O, the song is "Vector". Grab the CDDVD combo or ask me really nice for a DVD of last week's (though we caught it in September) Austin City Limits. Vocals and style are very like David Grey without the lamea$$ drummer.

And yeah, suicide or some other acceptance of freedom/choice were on the block.
