No. pressing clear gets rid of the little 'ff progress' bar at the bottom.

Ha, I just realized that you can tell I am a 30 second skipper. You don't have to hold down the FF button, hence you could press the clear button. hahaah. Problem solved. Ok, whats next? I think we should talk about cancelling the lifetime subscriptions and making everyone pay monthtly. That would surly generate tons of revenue.

PanamaGixxer, actually, they do NOT only last a few seconds. It was there anytime FF or RW is used, on the commercials or NOT. Even over the program itself

I hadn't seen an ad yet, but after looking at this I have to question; What the hell is wrong with you people? Quit being a bunch of crybabies. This barely covers any of the screen and doesnt diminish your ability to skip through commercials with the 30 sec function or FF. I see this as people who need drama and something to whine about. Please...

By the way, I have been a ReplayTV owner for 6+ years and am now down to 1 ReplayTV and 2 new Tivos. Try dealing with the buggy, piece of monkey crap ReplayTV software. That will give you something to really whine about.

Woah! God forbid paying customers should complain about what they pay for no matter how minor *you* might find it.

If it wasn't this, you "paying customers" would find something else to complain about. Give it a break. This is not the huge issue that it has been turned into. When they remove your FF ability (which they won't) then i'll be the first one in line to whine.

If I was using a stand-alone Tivo and I saw pop-ups, I would make the switch to Replaytv.

Well, you would no longer have pop up ads, but then you would have to deal with your ReplayTV rebooting constantly because it feels like it. The most unstable piece of crap ever marketed.

Exactly. Never question anything. Always believe what your are told. After all, how bad can it be that the Germans were moving the Jews to "Work Camps". Its not that big a deal. Sheesh, stop being cry babies everyone. Just take your ads and enjoy them.

P.S. The comment about the Germans and Jews was meant to prove a point. I do not condone what happened and it is a very horrible time in World history. Obviously an ad is not as bad as mass extermination of a race of people. But the point is, people just let it happen. Nobody said anything. If you don't like something, do something about it, voice your opinion, and let corporate America hear you.

I've complained about 3 major things in 5 years:
1. My DOA TiVo (mostly for TiVo not replacing it)
2. The way TiVo announced TTG (said it's "here" but they only gave you half of what you needed to make it work)
3. These ff ads

I haven't complained about having slow response times with 7.x.

Other than that I've been very happy with TiVo.

The way I see it --> if you don't complain for-profit companies will run all over you.

Here's an example:
We have a managed Cisco router where I work (Internet). For the past 6 years they sent emails out 14 days before planned outages. On 3/21/2005 they sent an email stating that they will no longer give 14 day notices but rather 5. On 3/28/2005 they sent another email stating they are going back to the 14 days.

I wonder why? Maybe because customers complained?

Here's the sections of the emails.

3/21
Effective immediately, AT&T will provide customers with 5 business days advance notice of 'planned' maintenance on network access routers. Emails will be sent 5 business days in advance to all customers who have connections on the affected access routers.

3/28
AT&T is committed to customer service and values customer satisfaction. We are happy to inform you that effective immediately we are reverting back to our policy of providing 14 calendar days advance notification for router maintenance.

Shhhh ... that was a rumor... I dont think they want you to remove the ad shhhh dont tell anyone... just teasing -
Was it supposed to remove the ad? Is that something TBill said? If so call the CSR's and let them know that another wonderful "feature" of 7.x doesnt work (the ads are another feature of 7.x - that is why they said cant rollback to 4.x)

So I guess this is called the OTHER shoe dropping or Good News / Bad News(as some interpret it)
Good News - we get broken 7.x and T2G which works ok for some and great for others - Bad News (as some interpret it) and then we get the other shoe - ads...
this is not meant as a complaint - just an observation.

You can still see the video in the background when fast-forwarding or rewinding. The new icons only cover a small portion of the screen and are only visible for a commercial that is branded to display one. Pressing CLEAR on your remote will make the icon disappear.

Is this close enough to Hitler to invoke Godwin's Law? Can this thread die now?

If I was still using my Tivo and they started doing this, I'd really be bugged. Enough that I would try to sell the unit and buy something else. Hopefully Moxi never implements this 'feature' This whole thing is like an ad built into your web browser to pop up as you wait for a website to load.
