Locke’s mother admission papers stated Santa Rosa Hospital. When Hurley visited Lenny, his visitors badge stated Santa Rosa.

OK, missed that - is that something the PI was showing Locke? So how crazy was she, if the "immaculate conception" thing was part of the setup?

From TV Guide this week

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Claire definitely has her baby in the April 6 episode. And one should look to Rousseau's back story to figure out what happens with Claire and her baby.

If I remember corectly, the dotted circle is where a stick on red dot goes if you die and want to donate organs. (not the birth year)

Anther observation: Jack has a razor. Any chance he could get Said and Sawyer to use it?

Yes, it was with the PI's papers.

She is listed as a "self admit" on the admission form.

Maybe she checked in on her own to create the crazy backstory for the hoax that she pulled. Maybe she met the "numbers" guy in there, or Hurley. Maybe she knew Hurley, and through her connection got John his job at the box company after his paralysis. Maybe, maybe, maybe....

Two points not mentioned yet-

-(For the 'everything/one is connected' minded)
Anyone get a good look at the "Lost Dog" flier that was on Locke's car when he came out of the store?

-(For the Religious or symbology minded)
Locke killed a dove on the hunt with his dad.

Great great great episode. I loved the overtly creepy part with Boone standing there covered in blood with Locke's mother pointing in the background. It just gave me chills.

Part of me is frustrated with the lack of explanations, and the other part of me is relishing the suspense. Relishing the suspense is winning out at the moment...

BTW, on the episode title...from the Guide to Literary Terms...

Deus ex Machina
In some ancient Greek drama, an apparently insoluble crisis was solved by the intervention of a god, often brought on stage by an elaborate piece of equipment. This "god from the machine" was literally a deus ex machina.
Few modern works feature deities suspended by wires from the ceiling, but the term deus ex machina is still used for cases where an author uses some improbable (and often clumsy) plot device to work his or her way out of a difficult situation. When the cavalry comes charging over the hill or when the impoverished hero is relieved by an unexpected inheritance, it's often called a deus ex machina.

If the plane was lost from radar, then, perhaps, they found some debris and floating bodies from other sections of the plane (even 5 or 10 bodies, or a few body parts) and never located any of the survivors, the official conclusion after a few days of search would be "all passengers and crew lost at sea". In other word's "no survivors". A simple error of assumption, made by the rescuers.

Such a plane crash would have been big news. The phrase "Oceanic flight 815" would ring a bell to lots of civilians. Assuming the voice on the radio was an air traffic controller (a logical assumption seeing as it was an aircraft radio) he'd certainly have been familiar with "Oceaninc flight 815". Even more so if it was an air traffic controller working in the general vicinity of where the plane disappeared from radar (likely that Boone would have reached a nearby air traffic controller!

A) It's most likely another aircraft, not an air traffic controller.
B) There was a certain confidence in the man on the radio's voice
C) If rescuers found some debris, they would find the island. The plane couldn't go that far with no tail and the people on the island would have seen helicopters and such.

Good pull. I recognized the show title (they all have meanings!), and couldn't really put it together until the end... when the light came on, both proverbially and on the show I figured the "god from the machine" was in the hatch! Locke may have sacrificed, repented, believed enough that the island may be ready to open up for him. The more I think about it, I kinda get the vibe that Locke won't be returning to camp for a while... or at all (though I doubt that).

Edit... of course, thinking about it more... what if "god from the machine" had something to do with something from the airplane... Maybe it was god's voice from the radio telling them they're all dead!!

My TiVo started recording after the program already started. The first thing I saw was a quick shot of Boone & Locke outside, no dialogue, then it cut to Locke and the Mousetrap game. What happened before that?

Someone pointed out in another thread I just read... (At least I think it was...I'm getting confused) When asked by a customer about the location of footballs, young store clerk Locke said that the regulation ones are in aisle 8 and nerf in aisle 15.

Boone's Shirt

Any translations on what was on Boone's shirt at the beginning?

And what was the thing about the Lost Dog flyer?

And is the plane definitely not the same model at the toy plane that Kate had?

That was earlier in this thread a couple times.

Can anyone post a picture of the plane stuck in the cliff? There are rumors that you can make out a face in the cliff wall.

Definitely not. It's one of the first things I checked.

A - Seems likely. An ATC would definitely be speaking English, but probably with a non-American accent in that region of the world.

B - That's the key puzzling point. You wouldn't expect that unless there was some confirmation, such as finding the bodies/remains.

C - Exactly. Weren't they extremely far off course, having lost radio contact quite some time before they crashed, leaving any potential rescuers with no clue where to look? (Or am I just thinking of Cast Away?)

I know I wouldn't have been walking around the inside of a plane that's stuck in a tree. Boone didn't use his noodle on that one. I'd have tried to find some way to get the plane from the tree. Then again, I'd have told other people about the plane.

My prevailing opinion has been, and still is, that they are in some sort of "other dimension" or "alternate reality".

Not "dead", not in Purgatorty, but in a, well... "parallel universe" for want of a better description.

(However, Hurley's buddy in the mental hospital had gotten his "numbers" from the radio tower that's on the island. And, Boone reached someone with a radio. So, radio waves can go from one "parallel universe" to the other?)

Anyway......

My post was going from the "alternate reality/parallel universe/other dimension" assumption.

Consider this:

The center section of the aircraft (containing our survivors) enters another "dimension", so it's no longer on the "earth" as we know it.

The tail and nose of the plane crash on the "earth" as we know it.

Pieces of the tail and nose, and bodies from those sections are found. All Pieces of the plane and bodies that are not found are assumed to be at the bottom of the ocean, too deep to raise.

The official conclusion in this case would be "lost with no survivors".

So, the guy on the radio would be confident about "no survivors". That's the official story!

You suspect it's a pilot of another plane, not an Air Traffic Controller. Fair enough, could be. But a pilot would also be totally familiar with the Oceanic 815 case.

Sayid makes Sawyer his dark eye/light eye glasses:

It's kind of shadowed in this picture, but in the Claire dream, Locke was also right eye dark, left eye light.
