This has been a known issue from the beginning and is stated on the Directv web site and alluded to on the post card we received.

The update that makes the system faster replaced a significant amount of the guide program, thus requiring you to reset "channels I receive," and, subsequently, "favorites."

I forced calls every day since the 16th without result. My scheduled call is tomorrow. We'll see if that makes a difference.

Nothing in 06109 Wethersfield CT yet either.

Neither Hughes HDVR2 units have gotten it, despite successful "Force Daily Calls" I've tried this weekend. I'm using "dial" over the serial cable through internet-attached computer, as I'm another Vonage user whose WRT54GP2 router doesn't like TiVo no matter what I try(although Vonage is working on a firmware beta for TiVo users, I was told Saturday).

Forcing calls on my Samsung here in random USA but nothing yet.

How do you know when it shows up? I gather you'll see a message about "pending restart" or something? And (hope this isn't just moronically stupid) what's a restart? (And if it is moronically stupid, hope someone will answer me anyway.)

Rather than "successful," the call status will read "pending restart." You can restart the receiver yourself from the setup menu, or simply wait until 2:00 AM the next morning when it will recognize that it needs to, and re-start itself. If so, that will interrupt any recordings that are going on at that point.

Nor at all moronic. That's what the forum is here for.

Still can't make a daily call via Vonage, so I'm guessing I won't have it any time soon. Still at 3.1.1.

Then maybe I misunderstood some posts that I read. For Dtivo's, I thought the software is supposed to have been downloaded over several attempts, from the satellite, and stored on the system until it is told to activate during the phone call. If it waits until the phone call to even download the data, but the files come off the satellite, then that sort of seems like a waste. And of course downloading the files over the phone line is even more of a waste.

So assuming that the files would already be sitting on my machine, and waiting for the green light from the mothership, where would they be stored? You say they are in the mfs system, does that mean that if I boot into the disk from the lba48 boot disk from ptvupgrade, I shouldn't be able to look for the files?

Thanks

Got it this morning

I started forcing daily calls on Friday and today didn't expect to see it come , but decided it was worth the try again. Forced the call at 6:30 this AM as I was getting ready for work.

The download was successful and Tivo gave me a pending restart. I manually did a restart and the software started it's activation routine.

When I left, the screen said it could take up to an hour to ready itself, so I turned on the TV and just let it run.

When I get home tonight I will futz with the settings and see how I like it.

(looking forward to putting in my 400 Gig dirve)
