Awesomely creepy. I loved it. The production values are great. HD + 5.1 surround with that creepy orchestral score... I can't wait 'til fall.

I was so looking for numbers references that the soccer uniforms jumped right out at me. But note that Hurley did not get a row number that was one of the numbers.

I found the scene where Locke was carried onto the plane and then dropped the card and couldn't reach it to be particularly poignant.

Got to see more paths cross at the airport, that was cool.

So Charlie took a statue...did it have any H in it? We'll have to wait on that one.

When the radar on the boat started to beep, I swear I thought of the hanking immediately. I have been infected by the others...

From memory, when Hurly was talking to Jack about the need to take a census, he says (again from memory):

"Dude, we don't even know each other's full names! My real name is Hugo Reyes. Hurley's a nick name. How'd I get it? I'm not tellin'! Point is, I think it's a good idea to know who everybody is..."

I'm sure someone will come up with a precise transcript. But that's close.

I don't read it, but my wife said the TV guide said he would become a key character. I dunno if she read it wrong, but he only got his 15 minutes of fame.

That's my take, anyway.

I'm sure he does. But I am getting so sick of Jack giving his impatient disgusted look every time somebody doesn't agree with him. And of course he switches out the dynamite pack from Kate... Control much???

According to a spoiler site I came across, Walt doesn't show up for another five years. Here's a pic.

I just framed-by-framed the AVI I have of the episode using VirtualDub. It looks like a piece of shrapnel. Although it looks to be swooping down and smacking the engine cowl, it actually looks to be more in the foreground at about the same field of view as those two people running. It's also cylindrical and definitely metallic. There's similar pieces of shrapnel flying about in earlier cuts of this whole beach scene, too.

Oh, I was so disappointed to see that Virgin Mary in Charlie's bag. He'd done so well lately. I hope he didn't bring it to USE it...maybe he's just thinking there can be some medicinal purposes to it and will give it to Jack? Well, heck, I can always hope, can't I?

I sense a "90210"esque Intervention episode with Charlie in the works for next year. Maybe Locke will use some Dr. Phil tough love techniques on Charlie to get him to reform after his gentle approach failed!!

I absolutely LOVED this finale!

Arzt blowing up... BIG surprise.
The boy being Walt... no surprise. A season without him wouldn't bother me a bit... he annoys
Black Rock being a boat... surprise.

I'm glad Hurley got to see the numbers on the hatch.

When Michelle Rodriguez was introduced as a passenger, I expected this episode to end with them finding the other group of survivors. (if there are any)

I hope Sawyer is okay.. he's one of my favorite characters.

From "Raised by Another"

Hurley: Uh-uh, nada. Everyone was asleep. So, I had an idea. I'm out here looking for some psycho with Scott and Steve, right? And I'm realizing who the hell are Scott and Steve?

Jack: I'm not following you?

Hurley: Look, if I was a cop and some woman got attacked, we'd canvas, right? Knock on doors, find witnesses. But we don't even have doors.

Jack: Hurley, you're not helping me understand where you're. . .

Hurley Look, we don't know who's living here and who's still at the beach. I mean, we don't even know each other. My name isn't Hurley, it's Hugo Reyes. Hurley's just a nickname I have, alright? Why? I'm not telling. Point is, we've got to find out who everyone is.

Jack: You want to start a census.

Hurley: Yeah, a registry, you know a name, what people look like, who's related to who. I mean, we start laying down the law, maybe we'll stop attacking each other. It seems like someone's getting punched, or stabbed, or something every other day here. We've got to find out who did this to her.

He only told Jack, but perhaps Locke got a look at the census.

Oceanic doesn't offer first class anymore. Apparently they're having financial troubles, probably because of all the crashes they've had.

Oceanic Airlines
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Oceanic Airlines is a fictional airline used on television and in movies to brand planes bound for disastrous ends, not to be confused with Trans Oceanic Airlines which is an actual Australian carrier from the 40s and 50s. Some uses of Oceanic are apparently from different people coming up with the name independently, while other uses incorporate recycled footage from Executive Decision.

[edit]

Films and television shows featuring Oceanic Airlines

Executive Decision -- Oceanic Flight 343 from Athens to Dulles, Virginia was hijacked by terrorists. A stewardess was killed in the hijacking, and both pilots were later killed. After the aircraft was secretly infiltrated mid-flight by a team of elite commandos, a gun fight took place, resulting in the deaths of all the terrorists. The gun fight caused the plane to depressurize, and 3 passengers were sucked out.
Panic in the Skies
Nowhere to Land
Lost -- Oceanic Flight 815 from Sydney to LAX disintegrated at a low alitude over the Pacific Ocean after drifting thousands of miles off course. At least 48 passengers survived the crash.
Code 11-14
Alias
JAG (according to [1])
Category 6: Day of Destruction
After the Sunset, according to the trailer.
LAX (TV series), Advertisments and computers in terminals in the LAX airport feature the Oceanic Airlines name in the episode Senator's Daughter

editing snafu???

I don't know if it was me overanalyzing, or if it was really a major editing snafu!?!?!???

When Hurley is running up the escalator, the last girl he passes in seen a few seconds later in the security line. Same girl in the same outfit!!!!!

Now the reason I noticed this was because she is wearing the boots that were brought up last week that the crazy lady is wearing now!!!
For some reason the boots stuck out....then a few seconds later they appeared again on a lady in the security line....i rewound, watched again, and it was the same lady!!!!!

blatant extra abuse!!!

Doesn't Walt being taken by "The Others" solve all of Michael's problems? He was willing to pay his mother to take the little brat off his hands and now he and us are rid of him plus "The Others" really wanted him and it didn't cost Michael a thing!! I am sure they will give him a good home and raise him right.

I'd say there is a BIG difference between wanting his mom to raise Walt and being "ok" or "relieved" that he is taken by strangers who most likely are the "others" that they have been warned about. Also, a lot has changed between the two of them since that day in the airport.

It's only 7.5, since he had to buy 2 coach seats...

The only series in years that I have watched every episode and can watch them over and over again.

Can't wait until the DVD comes out and next season.

Where did Hurley leave his second bag? Most of the way through the airport he had two carry ons. When he gets to the gate he is down to one. The blue one is still in the Sydney airport somewhere.

Did anyone else think it was a rotten trick for ABC to hold one scene for Good Morning America? I thought that was really cheap, although I'm sure it's not a particularly meaningful scene.

All I can say is WOW! Notice that Hurley was reading the comic book with the polar bear on it! How the heck can Jin, Sawyer and Michael stay afloat and make it since the ship is in pieces now...
