I went and looked this up. The girls really don't look all that good to me. Could just be the pictures. One girl does look pretty but her teeth are blinding me.

Why is Ashton Kutcher's name plastered all over this show?

[rhetorical question]

He's one of the producers...?

I'll check it out.

Always room for some trashy/funny reality shows in my NP list.

USA Today actually gave the show a very positive write-up. Said enough good things about it that I'm going to check it out, despite my general distaste for "reality" shows.

The Average Joe series was really bad though ... sadly, I watched all three (?) of 'em. Not one felt fulfilling in the end; I always felt ripped off of my "happy ending."

I hear this one is actually good, in that it has a heart.

Thanks for the heads up, goblue99. I was meaning to record it, and forgot. With your reminder I was able to log in remotely via TiVoWebPlus and set up a season pass.

The guy from punked is an Exec Prod and it has heart? I might have to watch just to see if AK actually can do something without acting like a D**k weed.

So how many of us watched? I really enjoyed it, although Richard is going to get annoying *really* fast. He's got to be playing for the cameras.

I watched it, and had the same cringing reaction to Richard Rubin. I think the state of New Jersey should disavow any knowledge of his existence.

Note to self: Do not say "hypertensive" to anyone who's not a health professional.

Not sure yet if this show really has a heart. I'll need to watch at least another episode.

I watched. The girls weren't all that hot. At least not TV hot. They were more middle-America-highschool-cheerleader hot. But still, out of the league of most of the guys on the show. Which means none of the guys have a legitimate shot at any of the girls--except for that one guy who's not really all that nerdy, just quiet.

I loved the hot tub scene where the girls all said they were looking for guys who were trustworthy and spontaneous (they left out that other cliche--a sense of humor). Of course, what they really meant was they want a guy that's really really hot, and it would be great if he wasn't a jerk too.

Tip to Mensa members: Nobody cares! Please keep that cry-for-attention membership card in your pocket; and no, women do not find intelligence sexy.

Carry on.

I was actually remarkably surprised by this show. I was relieved to find that it wasn't Just Another Dating Show.

Some of the girls' answers to the history/political questions were hilarious, though.

"Who was the President during the Civil War?"
"Hoover?"
"No, that's incorrect.... Abraham Lincoln was President during the Civil War."
[Blank look.] "Oh, right, D-Day!"

And I just have two words re: Richard: David Daskal.

re: women do not find intelligence sexy.

As a general statement, I'd say it's correct. Which is not to say that a person can't be intelligent and sexy, of course they can. It would also be incorrect to say that the quality of intelligence doesn't increase sexiness. But, if you think whipping out a Mensa card is going to have women breathing heavy in your presence, I'd say you're wrong.

Whipping out a Mensa card, to me, would seem to indicate insecurity on the part of the "whipper."

And insecurity can cancel out intelligence on the sexiness barometer.

Okay, I'll be back after I watch the dumb show.

Sure, a lot of the girls are not the smartest.. But really who would

I watched, and I enjoyed it. The show does seem to have a heart - or at least more of a heart than the dating shows. I don't think Richard is playing to the cameras. I think Richard is a classic "spazz" - and I think that's going to get him eliminated soon if he doesn't keep winning challenges. Even if he's not perceived as a threat (and he pretty much has to be seen as a threat, with the opening round double win), he'd be on the short list for elimination just to get him the hell out of the house.

I saw this one, too, and I enjoyed it. I'll definitely check the second episode out. It was kind of a welcome thing, considering how bad I thought Hell's Kitchen was on Monday.

Is the first episode repeated on Thursday night (June 2)?

They are a little hotter than "middle-America-highschool-cheerleader" hot, for instance, one of them is an NBA cheerleader. The "sleeping in the same bed" thing should be interesting. As far as Brad not really being a geek... he is the most normal looking... but I think he is cross-eyed (or has a very lazy eye).

The crowd favorite will surely be Richard, the lovable spaz. OTOH... it is hard to beat Bill, "Vice President, 'Dukes of Hazzard' Fan Club"
