TB, go ahead and move me into the definite column. The only thing I'm on the fence about is whether or not I'm going to try and hit Disneyworld before or after the meet. I'm cool for staying anywhere, but like the idea of staying on the beach.

If people spend all day at the beach, you will have to plan on an ER visit the next day!

I'm in, can't wait for the big shin-dig. If the main hotel is in South Beach, I'll be headed to Mangos instead of Indy's adult field trip, if that's a possibility.

I'm in the possible category. Just depends on cashflow and timing.

You can safely put ohmissfl and I in the "possible" category. I expect we'll be there but can't say for sure yet.

I'm still in the pretty certain category but I haven't booked anything yet. BTW, FWIW, I'm not a beach person. I like to look at oceans but going to swim in them or lie on the beach is of NO interest to me. A pool I can go for. Salt water is icky unless I am wearing scuba gear. Everything else sounds pretty interesting. Although, the Coconut Grove things freaks me out a bit since I read the book about the fire at the CG in Boston during WW2.

I might be able to make it.

Cat, if you come through Orlando on the way it would be a good excuse to use your annual pass at Universal again.

Just a suggestion but what about renting a hotel suite or a beach house or something?

I've never personally done this before but it sounds like it might be a viable option.

Not at this time, but it might by the time of the event. I am still not there yet (going home tonight), and will start investigating things when I get home.

Also, there is a possibility that this might turn to a HotEddy event.

Bruce, I was thinking the same thing, either on the way down or the way back. It is kind of a long drive, though.

Cat:
Maybe you'd want to consider a fly/drive trip. Fly to Orlando and drive to Miami. At any rate you welcome to stay here overnight if the need arises. Turns out that week is Fall break and it shouldn't be difficult for me to take a couple of vacation days as long as I know in advance.

Add us to the "longshot" category. It's near my birthday. Maybe I'll ask for tickets for my birthday.

Its looking like I may be going to San Fransisco the week before and I plan to stay a little bit longer to see the sites, so I don't think I'll be able to take a 3 day weekend two weeks in a row.

Man, insurance sucks!

I have another conference that weekend in Charlottesville so I can not go to Miami!

Sorry David. I was really looking forward to it.

This may call for some drastic measures.

Although I appreciate the sentiment. I don't know if there is anything that can be done. The part that pisses me off the most is we are off work on that Monday anyway. My thing is Sat-Tues. So, it WAS the perfect weekend.

So, Turtle, what's the deal on hotels? What is the consensus on where to stay? Or where is the location giving us greatest rates? I need to know so I can book now and not back out!
