Dinner at Deaklet's, Sat Aug 13

I hereby invite any and all inclined TCFers to my house on Saturday, August 13 for food, folks, and fun. Rather than trash a restaurant, we might as well trash my place. I promise the bats will be gone and the beer will be fresh.

I live in Shirlington, on Arlington Mill Drive, 4.1 miles from Crystal Gateway Marriott. Please park on the road on eastbound Arlington Mill Drive--parking restrictions in my neighborhood go into effect at 9pm.

I figure we will start accepting Intrepid Geeks at about 4pm, and will party until the kegs are kicked.

What: TCF DC Meet at Deaklet's
When: Saturday, August 13 at 4pm
Where: Arlington, VA

If you'd be so kind as to let me know you're coming (PM me for exact address and directions), I will ensure that I have plenty of food on hand. Party on!

Leslie,

We will bring our chocolate fountain and some stuff to enjoy with it.

Maybe once we decide on a menu, people can either contribute food, or if you get it catered, we can all chip in to help with the costs.

Agreed with deb... I will make sure I either bring something, or chip in some money to help with costs. I don't want you shouldering the burden of everything.

Oooooh, menu. Yes. As mentioned earlier, I will not be cooking for this event. As such, I'm going to have food delivered.

Last party, I had The Carolina from this place in Rockville. The food was delicious, and we all really enjoyed it. This platter has both pulled pork and pulled chicken, as well as slaw, potato salad, beans, and cornbread. I will also likely get a veggie and fruit & cheese platter. Sound good?

I get my beer from Capitol City Brewery, and will go over varieties when we get closer. I will also have some wine and sodas on hand, but please feel free to bring something to add to the party.

I know I will need some more chairs (I have a lot, but this seems like a big turnout!!! YAY!), so if some locals could bring some folding chairs, I'd be ever so grateful.

I'll be there! The menu sounds yummy. I will happily pitch in for the cost of food, and bring anything else that is needed.

For good catering at reasonable prices, I highly recommend Daks Grill in Bailey's Crossroad. They'll ever deliver.

http://www.daksgrill.com/catermenu.htm

I'm there for dinner with friends every thursday and the food is awesome. BTW, the ribs are out of this world.

I'll be there, and might sister might join us as well. I'm going to have to develop a nickname for her, aren't I? Sschwart's sister just doesn't work that well....

It looks like if nothing else, I'll be able to eat the sides, but if there's any vegetarian entree material, that would be fantastic. I can always bring veggie burgers or veggie dogs if nothing else.

Sschwister?

I'll bring some veggie snacks (prolly, samosas for those familiar with Indian cuisine/appetizers) and a suitable dipping sauce.

I'd be happy to pitch in with catering expenses - just let us know.

A couple of folding chairs will accompany me as well.

And this thread would be the ideal place to have folks let us locals know if they'll need rides, and figure out whether your location is suiatbly metro accessible (at least with a 'ferry' service!)

Handan and I will be there with three folding chairs (if I can find them in my basement)

We could bring food too, but is it really needed at this point? We're happy though to bring a veggie dish (maybe she can make a Turkish dish).

Amazing... I was at a party in your development just a week ago !

Small world, eh? (and small parking allocation for visitors)

No folding chairs here, but I can put a call out to my co-workers for some and they will surely oblige. I'm in for money, just point me to the paypal address or the nearest ATM.

Happy to provide transportation as well.

The Mrs. and I will be there. Just let us know and we can bring and/or contribute to the catering as the details cement. Probably can bring some chairs- this going to be indoors or outdoors? Our chars are the outdoor kind you sling over your shoulder in a sack...

I will be there as well. Can't bring any folding chairs (I think the airline might frown upon that ), but I'm happy to help in any other way. I would be glad to kick in some money for the expenses and/or bring something.
