NJ Transit does not record gender or anything. (Unless, of course, your girlfriend's mother signs the back of the pass)

Since we're at about 4 weeks away, we really need people to decide within about 2 weeks so we can call the restaurant and make a reservation. Also, if anyone wants to organize an activity like a museum visit beforehand, we should start brainstorming about that.

Sure... We're not special enough to make you come to NY, but ellinj is... I see how it is

I'm still solidly in the maybe list. I have to be in NY that weekend for my aunt's birthday, so I might be able to join for part of the fun, depending on your plans and when the party for my aunt is.

I looked at the Heartland Brewery's web site today. There are several locations to choose from, including the Chophouse, where we could get a private room if we have more than 15 people. We have 13 positives so far, so we're close.

They also have party packages for groups of 15 or larger. The web site doesn't indicate pricing, as I'm sure it depends on what's chosen.

Here are the locations to choose from as I see it:

Chophouse
127 W 43rd St, just east of Broadway

Radio City (much smaller than the rest)
1285 6th Ave at 51st St

Empire State
350 5th Ave, in the Empire State Building

I did call the Party planning number, and spoke to someone who told me that of the 3 choices, Radio City is the smallest location. The Chophouse (Times Square) has a lot of private room choices, as does the one in the Empire State Building (more just areas with curtains separating, not necessarily rooms).

If we go with the party option, there will have to be a contract signed a certain amount of money guaranteed. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that, but she told me that we can always just make a group reservation and order from the regular menu. I'm waiting on an email with the party menu choices as well as pricing.

I got an email from the catering dept at Heartland.

The MINIMUM price for food only, is $37.50 per guest. They keep a running bar tab in addition.

Though the choices are nice, I think we'll do better to just order off the regular menu. Everyone will just have to bring cash, so we can all pay for our share.

Also, for parties this large, they add 20% gratuity.

Thanks for making the calls, Deb! Sounds like we're good for just ordering off the menu. I don't know anything about the different locations (I'm very familiar with the Union Square location, but that's not one of the convenient options!).
Looking forward ... (and all you maybes better make it )!

So nice to see NYC restaurants continuing to provide such a high level of service for the money.

Do we have any final plans yet? If anyone wants to go to the Blue Note after dinner I would need some time to arrange tickets as this show sells out.

There's a possibility Handan and I will drive up. However we most likely would be staying with her brother who lives in NJ. I'm not sure how the logistics of driving/dropping you would work out... but we could figure something out I'm sure.

That is... if we go.

Was there a time set for the meet? I don't think Jobeth and I can stay over night so I need a time to see if we can get a train back.

Jack forgets that we don't have a babysitter with the oldest away at school. I'm not comfortable with the 2 younger ones home by themselves with us that far away. You can count us out for this one.

Is there any idea as to what time the festivities would be going on on Saturday? Is this an afternoon thing, or an evening thing? I'm trying to piece together that weekend, and trying to make this.

I believe it'll be an evening thing (dinner and then whatever). Deb said she'll post full details either tonight or tomorrow. I believe we were thinking meet for drinks around 5 and then dinner at 6 (to give folks time to get there according to train schedules and such). Not sure which location yet - that's Deb's turf .
