Are you nuts? parking in Tysons is bad enough WITHOUT the new theatres!! Can you imagine what that place will look like during the holidays??

First of all, I'm not sure how this Saturday counts as a "during the holidays".
Secondly, as part of the new theater expansion, they just opened a giant new parking garage. I don't think parking is going to be that bad.

It doesn't unless you count the "Halloween" shoppers. I was just imagining that place during November and December, total madhouse.

Darn - tempted as I am to do the Tysons thing, primarily to check out the new theater - I don't think I can! Enjoy the movie and the Sunday hike in Jeremy's stomping grounds

Is the FF viewing party also being planned for THIS weekend

Hey, I just turned down dinner with an old friend on Saturday night because I have plans to see Serenity this weekend. Then I check the thread.

So, do I have plans to see Serenity this weekend?

We can go during the evening sometime next week, if that's easier for people. But then we have to squeeze it in after work.

If I still lived in DC, I would first check to see if it were playing at the Uptown.

But that's just me.

Well, Laura and I may go see it Saturday afternoon/evening but due to the restrictions of childcare, we probably will be sticking to a theater in Manassas or Fairoaks. So probably no way to meet you guys for a showing and you probably don't want to come "all the way out" to meet us....

Now if the DVD screening doesn't fly and people are still interested, I might make part of one or host part of one later. You aren't trying to watch them all in one day, or are you?

Dude, you really need to get out more often. There hasn't been movie theatres at Fair Oaks in ages! Maybe Fairfax Town Centre or the new stadium ones at the Gov't Center.

To me, all of that is "Fairoaks" just like, to you, all of where I live is "Manassas" (or BFE)...

I could possibly make a late-Saturday showing since the Nationals game is now at 4 PM to accommodate the Fox TV schedule.

OK, so there are basically two people (Me and JustAllie) expressing recent interest in a airing at Tysons Corner saturday afternoon.

And Mecurial & Laura planning to see the movie in the FairOaks/Manassas area sometime Saturday afternoon/evening.
And jlb.x who might be up for a late-Saturday showing after the Nationals game.

Doing a bit of investigation in the hopes that something of a meet might still be salvaged, I checked the FairOaksarea theaters.

Unfortunately the nice stadium seating one (Fairfax Corner 14) isn't showing the movie.
Regal Fairfax Town Center the other theater (no stadium seating) in the area does have (4:30), (5:00), 7:15, 7:45, 10:00, and 10:30 showings.
Or looking at Manassas the Regal (Hoyts) Cinemas Manassas Stadium 14, which I know nothing about other that it has stadium seating, has (3:40), 7:25, 10:10 showings.

I'm assuming that a 10 pm showing would be the earliest jlb.x would be able to make. Which is probably later than some the people planning to hike Sunday morning would like to do...

How about some feedback on whether any of those times or locations would work, see if we can get at least a small group together at the same time and place to enjoy a great movie.

Well, given that so many people seem to be busy this Saturday, I think I'm going to call my off-forum friends and find someone who hasn't seen this film or the TV series and "bring them across." Maybe I can create a new Browncoat this weekend.

So no mini DC Serenity meet for me. But I may see you at the hiking thing on Sunday.

Looks like a failure to acheve critical mass. Oh well, see some of you on Sunday for the hike.

After whining to y'all about Tyson I took the kids there yesterday.

The new theatre is AMAZING. It's super huge stadium seating, with plush, red, velvety wide seats and a ginormous screen and the movie was loud. We all got free popcorn, I think cause it was opening weekend.

The new wing at Tysons is really nice, but parking was really crowded and waaay too many people. I want to see the Chronicles of Narnia there and the new Harry Potter movie that comes out November 18. After that I'm not going near that mall until after the new year.

I never did get to Serenity this weekend. Talk about total slack-off. Though I did make it to Saturday's Nats game...

Ah. Priorities I guess.

I managed to get out to the new Tyson's theater on Saturday to see Serenity. And I echo Havana Brown's comments. Very nice theater, too many people at the mall.
