Lost: 10/5 "Orientation" ** Spoilers **

I thought I would get things started early by posting the two links to two stories in today's USA Today.

Be forewarned, the articles do provide some spoilerish material, mostly about the basis for what might happen tonight.

Interestingly, the producers are quoted in one of the articles saying that they do have people watching the web boards to see how we all think things are going.

Quote:
To that end, Lindelof and fellow executive producer Carlton Cuse say other Lost writers more closely monitor message boards, which attract some of the most devoted fans. Those writers act as a filter, relaying the interests of online fans while reducing the chances that they would overly influence the show's direction.

Tonight's episode will supposedly highlight (albeit for about 1.5 seconds) a book that has already been mentioned in past threads. Could be a red herring, who knows.

Only 12.5 hours to go!!!!

http://www.usatoday.com/life/televi...iterature_x.htm

http://www.usatoday.com/life/televi...st-inside_x.htm

One interesting quote, from a humorous point of view is the following:

Quote:
Many delight in "Easter egg" rewards for close viewing: in an airport scene in last season's finale, for example, a field hockey team's uniforms bore the now-ubiquitous numbers, as Petra Otto of Neenah, Wis., points out.

I think most of us would agree there was nothing easter eggish about the numbers on the soccer jerseys...it was pretty much in your face.

THe book thing was mentioned on message boards only after one of the Lost producers mentioned how it would be featured and how it related to teh plot. Hopefully that is not all BS.

Personally I'd like to see what would happen if a writer announced that the ingredient list to Ducan-Hines Blueberry Muffin Mix provided clues as to what is going on the island. Would there be a run on Muffin Mix?

Seriously, I'm looking forward to tonight. The rumor on the street is that this will answer a lot of questions about the hatch.

And....(spoilerizing it just for general purposes, despite the spoiler tag in the title):

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
The background story is focusing on Locke. And Locke's daddy returns.

I believe that tonights episode, in the Boston market, is going to be pushed back because of the Red Sox game.

Crap Crap Crap. I checked Comcast, Zap2it, and others and it looks like Channel 5 in Boston is just waiting until the re-air slot on Saturday to show Lost. They are airing Invasion at 10 (assuming the game finishes then), but no Lost.

When I was in Merrimac with Adelphia, they carried WMUR 9/ABC out of NH. But Comcast basic does not.

I love my Sox, but having to wait until Saturday night.....and not read this thread after 9pm, yikes.

The WCVB website (www.thebostonchannel.com) is now stating that Lost will be broadcast at 11:35PM tonight.

Hey now, let's be reasonable .. we can make comments that are both more accurate and more pleasing to a larger population. Burn in hell Red Sox would be perfectably acceptable here without alienating the rest of the baseball fans

TV Guide's listings for Boston show that ABC (channel 5) is going to be showing baseball and delaying Lost until 11:35 (as jtonra pointed out), but the other ABC (channel 9) is showing Lost at its usual time.

The big question for me.......will the guide data be updated in time, or will I have to call my wife (I'm on the road and just realized I can watch live in my hotel) to walk her through making sure it get's recorded. Though, I'll check TiVO online and see if it is there..........

Well, not yet........Is there any way to schedule a manual recording from TiVO online? I guess I could select the show at 11:35 (nightline?) and record that and pad an hour or so (who knows how long the game will go). This assumes my SA will make a call soon. But it will be easier to walk my wife through forcing a call than setting up a manual recording. Of course I'll have to have her check the SP first to see if it picked up the updated guide data.

Request for anyone in the Boston area with an SA:
Can you force a call, or check periodically during the day to see if the guide data has been updated? Thanks!

If your TiVo is connected via broadband, it should be checking very often. I've set up a recording less than 30 minutes before it's supposed to air and had it record just fine. However, I'm not sure you can set up a manual recording online and if you set it to record Nightline (what is currently listed at 11:35) you run the risk that the schedule will be updated and your Nightline recording will be cancelled. I'd schedule the Nightline recording and then keep checking TiVo Central Online throughout the day to see if the schedule is updated and will allow you to set up the correct recording for Lost.

Not related to this episode but a friend of mine mentioned something about there have been a few car crashes that they have shown in back flashes. That Locke, Micheal and Kate have all been involved in car crashes and in all cases it was the same car that hit them. Has this been discussed before or is it even true?

It has been. Last week's thread discussed it quite exhaustively.

I have an SA. I am going to call my wife and have her set up a manual recording from 11:30- ~ 2am. Seems like the best way to guarantee getting the recording.

Hey now, just because the Sox lost by something like 108 runs doesn't mean they don't exist......

Since Lost makes many references to the Red Sox it is relevant.

FYI, I just called my wife from my hotel so she can set up a manual recording.....Interestingly, on our SA, she said the 9:00 Lost was no longer in the To Do List, but the 11:35 airing was not yet showing Lost. When I had her set up the manual record for 11:30-2:00, it came back and said ABC News, or whatever.........Nightline, maybe.

And the other connection to the Sox..........Take the year the Sox last won.....2005. Lop of the last digit, divide the result by 2, add the sum of the digits, and add one for good luck and what do you get.......108.

Boston viewers: WMUR, not WCVB!!

Deliberately not reading this thread, so this might have been said.

The Red Sox game is on, so WCVB (channel 5) won't show Lost (actually, I heard they might show it at 11:35pm tonight). WMUR (channel 9) WILL show it however, at 9pm.

No HDTV for me.

Adjust your TiVos accordingly! Mine wasn't gonna tape anything until Saturday.
