I'm sorry, but shouldn't this be big news......Have Clip overlap protection makes SP management a much easier breeze, especially for single tuner households. And in reality, this is something the networks should like. As an example, I quit recording CSI: NY (forgot about overall quality for a minute) after 2 or 3 weeks of manually changing recording times.

Again, this will be great. In practice, I would like to see it further enhanced to have the option to "always keep the clip at the end" or "always keep the clip at the beginning". This is more valuable to me. With "always allow higher priority" to record, I take this to mean that you will always lose a clip at the end, as the problem is the next show starting when the first is running long. I see no mention of if you say "do not allow higher prior to record" as meaning "let it record but only after the prior show finishes recording".

Am I smeeking all of this???

I'd rather have the feature allow me to set overlap protection to always tape the end of anything, and give priority to that over the begining of new recordings. I'd MUCH rather miss the first two minutes of something than the last two minutes. It looks like I'll be able to do that with this, as long as I manually set each SP to do so.

I think you said it better than I did. I guess I could go into each SP and set that. Cool! Has 7.2.1 started to come out yet, or is this just beta at this time?

Hold on. I think Im missing something. Has this started rolling out or are these just pictures of an unrelased update? Basicaly what I'm asking is if TiVo has pushed the button to launch 7.2.1.

Just connected my Humax to the service as of 5:30PM CST - no update. No problem - I am just thrilled it's coming. WTG TiVo.

It is also possibly that someone at TiVo goofed and frobbed the wrong bit and you got it before you were supposed to - adding your TSN to a beta instead of someone else, etc.

Or that you're in the very early trickle they always do before really flipped in the switch, just to make sure nothing nasty is lurking. Better to have a handful of upset users than thousands.

At this point it does not look like the main switch has been thrown, most people will not be getting 7.2.1 yet.

Unless something changes radically, it will be available on all Series2 boxes - so, yes.

Sorry to hear that...

I have four TiVo's, seldom a problem, and always look forward to the updates, as I am with great anticipation with this one as well!

I think this is the only update that I have ever looked forward to getting in the 4 1/2 years I've had Tivo.

For those of us with home networks, I think the 4.0 HME and 7.2 Network Guided Setup (negating the need for a phone line) updates were pretty extreme as well, just to name a couple of other enhancements I've been thrilled about.

I just received the update for 7.2.1 today at 2:00am. I had no idea that there was a new update as I haven't been checking the threads here as often as I used to.

It was kind of lame actually, I was watching TV just now (about 20 minutes ago) and all of a sudden my Tivo rebooted in the middle of a recorded program I was watching.

So as I waited (it took about 15 minutes to reboot) I hopped on here to check out what was going on and read this thread. A few minutes later the Tivo finished rebooting with a message that said I have the 7.2.1 update.

Evidently the rollout (of some sort) has begun!

I guess TiVo has moved away from priority lists after all the grief they got the last few times. Either that or they may not use them with x.x.1 releases

The easiest way to tell if you're in a small sample group or part of the main rollout is to look at the software version number. If it contains a letter then it's a beta version and you're part of the small test rollout. If it does not contain a letter then it's final code and you're just part of the first group in the real rollout.

Looking forward to this, and probably some other little tweak fixes (the stutter when resuming from pause?). I'm surprised that 'clip overlap protection' wouldn't also include 'soft padding'; it seems they'd go hand in hand. Ah, I'll take what I can get.

If you weren't a reader of this forum, what software version would you think you were on?

TiVo hasn't made a very big deal about its new abilities, some of which are quite significant.

I now use my TV to listen to music, look at photos, play games and watch videos stored on my home computer(s) (or other TiVoes) all using a TiVo.

You know, I'm glad you said that.....I just started noticing the stutter from pause. Didn't bother me too much, but it will be nice to get rid of it. I actually wondered if I had a HD problem. Nice to know that is not the case.

And I can't wait for Overlap protection. Of course I'll have to manually protect each SP as I too will always want to record the end of a program over the beginning. Though with Lost, I could differ......But since I have Lost at the top of the SP list that shouldn't be a problem.

Can we get a rename on this thread to "7.2.1 Software" rather than "7.3"?

My version says 7.2.1-oth. Just like in Zatz's pic from Digital Life. So are you saying that it's still beta or not?
