Interesting footnote to this meet. There were two Robs, two Dave's and two Mikes.

Edit: Had pigonthewing(000202304) there would have been two Jeff's.

Thanks for doing the cool keychains, Rob! And the flashlight and tape measure, TiVoDealer!

Be careful, folks -- at some point, you'll be handing out $35,000 goodie baskets, just like on the Oscars.

Here's another interesting footnote.

Today was our monthly Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) meeting in Queens.

So I decide to show up for the first time ever today (even though I do participate, I have never been to a meeting).

Guess who's there?

TiVoslinger.

What a small world we live in!

Hello everyone! I had a really nice time last night.
Great seeing you guys I met at last month's dinner; but sorry Doug, DebToine, Miro and her hubby couldn't make it. But let's not forget Pig and Insty, who are always fun to be around. If we had gone to Hooters the night before, we would've seen them!

I was very happy to see some new faces. Of course we met the famous IndyJones who is a very exciting person (in person)!

TiVoDealer, as always, it was very nice of you to bring gifts for everyone, we really appreciate them! Many thanks to you!

Rob and Roseann, nice meeting you guys and thank you for the key chains.

TiVoSlinger, what a small world it is!

Mike, maybe Ryan and I will see you at the next Photo Safari or meet!

Jeff and Cheryl, great job!

Hope we see everyone soon!

It would probably just be easier to list the people I didn't tell.

I had a GREAT time. I laughed so hard that, had I been DeeDee, extra Maui sauce would have come out of my nose. Seriously, my stomach hurts.

Thanks go to ellinj (MY +1) and DeeDee (MY favorite) for not only talking me into coming, but making it possible for me to be there. And DTF and Indy for putting up with my silly jokes and taking care of me when I started to feel kind of woozie.

By the end of the night I had been up for 21 hours straight - so I was a little off my game! (Yes, imagine, it can be worse )

What a great time though:
NYNY did a great job planning this! Looking forward to hanging out at New Years!
Mike2001 was probably the only one who was surprised, even Landrumth claimed he knew it was me.
RobPickles and DTV TivoDealer - thanks for the goodies!
And there were a few people I didn't even get a chance to talk to - Peter000 for one! Sorry about that, but there's always next time.

Wow, what a fantastic trip! I can't begin to list off all the thanks to all the peeps. It was great meeting so many new faces. And I always say this to online and offline friends - this is such an inclusive and awesome group of people. It's always good hanging out with you.

A special thanks to Ellinj, though, for his hospitality. Thanks for the crash space, my friend!

I'll write more later.

Our driver sucked! I don't know if he was drunk or blind, but he sure liked to speed and slam on the breaks when he saw a cop.

It must be normal in the NYC area. When I had to hire a driver from my NJ hotel last time I was there, the guy went from there to LGA on fumes...I was honestly concerned that he'd run out of gas, as the needle was pushing empty nearly the entire time.

Oh, and when I got out of the hotel in the first place, he was nowhere to be found while his car was running...it turned out he was taking a nap!

Am I the only one who feels like there's more to this story?

It sounds like you all had a great time. Too bad it wasn't a week later, I might have been able to join you.

ummmm...nothing to see here, move along.

Actually, not much more to the story then that on two occasions when I stood up I started feeling really queasy - and I wasn't even drunk! And they took good care of me. (I wish there WAS more to that part of the story!)

So sorry we never made it to Stout. Our birthday friend changed his plans to be NJ-based, and that coupled with the fiercest traffic jam I've ever seen (took 40 minutes to drive a distance I could've easily walked in 10-15) near our apartment, completely prohibited us from being able to make it. I really wanted to go, and of course, after seeing all the pictures, only wish that much more I had.

Still, on the upside, we did make it in on Friday. Hooters was a blast, and our waitress was definitely very friendly - much unlike the considerably hotter one at the table next to us, whose attractiveness went almost entirely out the window when she spoke. The wings were great, as were the conversations. I'm really glad I made it to that.

Sorry I thought we could fit six adults into a Volvo S40. I've had five in there before, so I was convinced just one more wouldn't be too bad a squeeze. Guess I was wrong. Well, I'm glad we all met up at DTUT later anyway. I've never been there with a group before, and showing up with 6 people, it became obvious that any more than that would have a tough time sitting together - at least right away. But, the chocolate covered bananas and really old, super comfy couches were as worth it as always, if you ask me.

Before I end this post though, I want to point out that my dinner on Saturday was fabulous. I know I missed all the fun, but I ate Japanese hibachi-grilled lobster and shrimp with fried noodles and rice. So there.

It's ok. I only cried for the first 15 minutes of dinner.

Seriously, though, I was very sorry that I didn't get to meet you and Instigator. But I'm glad you had a yummy dinner. And hopefully there will be an opportunity to hang out sometime in the TCFuture.

The ride to the airport was great fun. There was even a comedian on board .

However, I didn't get to hang out with Indy at the airport because we were in completely different buildings. Damn architecture.

So, not only did I lose out on the good company but I didn't get to make a scene when he boarded his flight. "Please don't leave me Indy. What about the baby?" sob.

LOL! And the comedian Joules is referring to was an elderly lady. At one point, we thought she had died. But she perked back up after a pit stop and cracked this doozy:

An elderly woman was going to get remarried to an elderly man. Her friends all asked why at their age they were going to get married to each other. She replied "he can drive at night."

I think I'm missing some of the set up, but that was the gist of it.

I'll PM you my address, Pig and Insty! Thanks so much!

No he wasn't drunk or blind, that's how they (cab drivers) usually drive here.

Trust me, I know. We have a couple of them in our family... (well on splendid's side anyway...)
