Yeah, I've always wanted to stay there - it is just cool. :-)

Personally I don't gamble - I just don't enjoy it, so why bother? - so I'd rather know which hotels have good video arcades. :-)

Yes it was. Anytime you have to remove yourself from a situation to calm down, that's pretty intense.

Yes, but I found the rooms to be less than impressive, to put it mildly.

At least it's not as dumpy as Harrahs.

The Tropicana is a pretty bad hotel (and not just by Vegas standards). The rooms are pretty bad and are, IMHO, less than do-able. Not to mention, if you get a room in the rear tower, you'll need to bring a canteen, map, and donkey with you just to get from the front desk check-in to the elevator for your room. The hotel is long, long overdue for an overhaul, and their service is pretty terrible.

Dude, if you're taking a donkey to your room, I don't want to be anywhere near the Tropicana.

Nix on the Tropicana.

I'm still open on the Flamingo, Treasure Island (despite the poor pool) and the LV Hilton (despite the location).

If they have that $50 special again on the Hilton, I am there. It's cheap enough for me that it's worth it (and I can drive since I'll be bringing my car).

Plus, it was nice to be able to stumble back to my hotel room after visiting Quark's.

I want to put my vote in for the Flamingo...just because. I also want to say that I am all for everyone reserving their own rooms....there is no reason why Jay should commit to these awful contracts just to save a couple bucks off the room rate.

The one at the hilton sounds better.

Although I don't think we are going to get a top rate pool at a super low price.

Best pool, by far, is at Mandalay Bay!

You know how they "overhaul" hotels in Las Vegas, right?

After some thinking this weekend, how important is price vs location in hotels?

Would folks rather save $20 a night to stay at the Hilton as opposed to mid-strip?

If the Hilton can offer us a $50-$60 group rate, it's something I'd seriously ask everyone to consider when voting. It's hard to turn down a rate in that range, even if it's a crappy location.

But if the Hilton can't give us a phenomenal deal like that, I don't see the point in staying there. The main selling points of the Hilton *have* to be the room rate and a really good ballroom/catering price point. Otherwise, they're just another off-strip hotel that happens to have a really amazing Star Trek bar in it. Not to mention that, since the hotel is so far off the beaten path, you'd HAVE to have a good rate to make up for the monorail and taxi costs that you'll end up with as a result of staying out there.

So... if room rate's good, I can put it on the table. And if it's not, I'll make sure folks know what's going on.

The think I didn't like about the Hilton, was other then Quarks, the restaurant selection is poor, the buffet wasn't so hot either, might proclude some of the impromptu meets we had at NYNY for breakfast, etc.
