Noticed mine completed downloading this morning.

Can't use Tivo to Go though as it is copyright protected so the notice says.

Interesting thing: I wanted to copy it to DVD so my husband could watch it -- it said I couldn't. Then, I tried making a copy to VHS and it worked! Why do you suppose?

Pony, definately a cool movie. Get us MORE!!! The download did take a couple of hours though, but operation of the Tivo other functions were not affected at all.

I enjoyed it this afternoon. Thanks much!

How about DigitalLife in addition to CNET?

Took about 5-6 hours for me as well.

I certainly hope if they want to push IPTV that we can download more than one thing at a time and it not take 5-6 hours each.

This seems great. Good quality of the movie. Although D/L speeds are slow it would not be a problem for me if I que a movie in the evening and then expect to see the next day. I didnt notice any features being slower while the dl was taking place. If TIVO had a suite of movie collections I would cancel my Netflix for this service. If I could DL a couple movies at a time and then after I delete them I could dl two more. Than would be a great service.

It took a long time, finished about 1:45 this morning, which may be more a factor of my b wireless network than anything.

I need to run a backbone in the house, maybe that's a good idea for this weekend

Cheers,

We will be able to offer the CNET content to subscribers who have the DVD units. The offer to subscribe will appear in the Showcase menu next week.

The CNET showcase will be available to all subscribers (although you obviously must have broadband in order to receive the content on your TiVo box)...and it will offer both the ability to subscribe and unsubscribe. Next week.

Have a Great Thanksgiving!

Just watched the film. Learned a whole bunch about an interesting group of people, many whom I recognized from other films. Also dug some of the trailers like the one for the Intial-D live action film. The video quality of the film was great.

Well my TIVO is wired.. and the download was fairly quick I thought.. started around 6pm local time and was definitely finished before 8pm. (my cableco is also very fast.. topping out around 8mbps normally)

Was this for red trousers or for CNET Downloads. That's pretty fast if it was for 1:40 mins of red trousers!

Glad to hear there won't be more fragmentation of capabilities.
Thanks for getting it to the DVD units!

We're still testing our video download infrastructure.. Please don't consider whether you receive the invitation to join in any particular test as a "fragmentation of capabilities".

In this case the team had decided to test the CNET material with the standard DVR products. They'd discussed whether to broaden the test to a wider audience, and I did share the comments from the forum.

Glad we could make this available to you. Next week!

Pony

I was surprized too. I had my HDTV plasma zoom the video to full 16X9, and I didn't understand how those fast shots could be that good. I was expecting more things like the jaggie on the the video screen behind the CNet main presenter (the camera one). They must have tuned those trailers for a higher data rate. -Which is a smart strategy because once you wow the audience and have them buying your presentation, they relax their critical eye.

Fascinating experiment- although I don't go in for this sort of genre, I agree the actors talking about their craft was pretty interesting.

Cool! Even though I don't watch kung fu, I liked this.

One suggestion though: it would cause less anxiety if the downloads didn't show up on the list until they are done...

TivoPony,

A few questions for you.

1. I added myself to the list for download of the Red Trousers movie about 4 days ago and no download?

2. Will the CNET/Video downloads be available for your Canadian customers?

Thanks.

I got the movie downloaded. Tried to play it while it was downloading and it said it couldn't play until the D/L was complete. Would be nice to add a progress bar for the download, so we know how the download is progressing and how much longer until it will complete.

Also, I think it slowed my internet connection down while the download was ongoing. Latency playing World of Warcraft noticeably increased at the time of the TiVo download which adversely affected WOW playability. It might be nice to have the ability to pause downloading a movie when you are doing internet intensive stuff on your computer.

The download took several hours to complete, but the movie is pretty cool. Thanks for letting us get this for free Tivo!

Yeah I signed up for it as well but did not receive it. Just like the CNET stuff I signed up for it when the option first appeared and have not yet received any of them.

I watched about 2/3rd of it a few days later than I had hoped. Pretty cool stuff! Surprisingly the documentary is the interesting part, the mini-movie showing off the fighting is less so. Melissa caught a few minutes of it and actually wants to watch, so we'll have to queue it up again from the beginning.... which leads me to this question: Will the movie expire?
