Arrow Stuck in "Almost there. Just a few minutes more..."

I need help. I have a TiVo Model 140060, upgraded to a 160 GB hard drive, lifetime service. It’s little over 2 years old. I have tried everything I can think of to get out of “Almost there. Just a few minutes more… hell!”.

I have tried a new hard drive.

I have tried the original hard drive.

I have tried an Instantcake image.

I replaced the power supply module.

I tried changing the mfsrestore “-s 127” to “-s 250”.

I have tried powering on with the Linksys WUSB11 v2.5 wireless NIC connected and with it unconnected.

Nothing works. Well I shouldn’t say that. If I don’t allow the machine to upgrade to 7.2 the machine works okay but then I can’t update listings or connect to my network, so it isn’t worth very much in that state.

So I go through the connect to service routine. It works fine until it updates the software.

This never happened until TiVo software version 7.2 came along.

Here is more on the symptoms.

Power on “Welcome powering up…” screen
If the machine has been powered off for several hours the left front light is green.
If the machine is not “cold” both front lights come on with the left side light showing a combo of green on top and yellow on the bottom and the right side lights red and yellow, top and bottom.
When the “Almost there. Just a few minutes more…” screen appears the left light turns totally green and the right light is off.

Never boots into the TiVo 7.2 software. The screen continues to display “Almost there. Just a few minutes more…” until I power off.

Anybody got any ideas of what’s wrong and how to remedy this?

Already tried the original HD.

I'll try letting it sit for several hours and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Thanks.

Let it sit powered off overnight. Turned it on this morning. Saw a screen about updating service. Then a reboot to grey followed by the "Almost there" screen.

I am planning on leaving it in this state for 5 to 6 hours in the hope that something miraculous will happen. We've just had a white Thanksgiving, so who knows?

Gobble, gobble y'all.

Unfortunately after many hours and many tries the TiVo has not gotten "there" yet.

I was hoping that some expert would have a good suggestion to remedy this situation. Is my hope in vain?

Maybe a Kickstart will do something. Maybe not.

This isn't the forum to be asking this question. You may want to ask in the help center forum where more people are likely to see it.
