Anyone know if you can do tables in a post?

I want to post something with 3 columns. Can the forum software do tables? If so, how?

If you use the [code] tag, and your data is already in columns, it should come across correctly. Alternatively, you could do a screen capture and link to the image.

I'm actually in a meeting -- and they're paying me to be here.

Kidding, sort of. People are yammering about stuff that isn't in my arena. Cool, I have an arena.

I do hope Indy gets an answer to his question.

An arena? I only have a cube and I have to share it.

Seriously, is there a way do to this, other than preformatted text and [ code ] ? I've wondered myself.

Not that I know of. Judicious use of the non-breaking space (&nbsp) can help.

Doug uses the Courier New font in his Posting Statistics Report, and that works out fine to give a formatted look. Seems that it is monospaced, and uses all the spaces.

I was thinking to capture it as image first, but Pianoman's suggestion sounds better. I'll have to try it one day.

Actually, I just tried it, and it didn't work for me. It compressed all the spaces. I don't know how the hell he's doing it.

Whenever I've posted something that needed to be in columns, I typed it up in Excel, then saved it as a "Formatted Text (Space delimited) (*.prn)" file. From there, I used the [ code ] tags and pasted the contents of the .prn file within them.

Looks like this:
Code:
column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3 column 1 column 2 column 3

Any other hints to explain how you do it?

I just copied and pasted some of your statistics post (using the quote feature) into a test post, and as hefe said, it compressed all of the duplicate spaces.

It's like built-in copy protection; you can't edit or quote it and have it retain the formatting... well, unless you're good.
